The system start the engine - the general information and precautions

general information

The only task of the engine starting system is to provide the motor rotation at a speed sufficient for starting.

Starting system consists of a starter, battery, ignition switch, relay and wiring. Retractor relay starter is on the case.

The starter motor is a direct current with the mixed excitation with the electromagnetic traction relay. The starter consists of a body or stator windings excitation armature Freewheel, covers with brush holder and the traction relay.

When the starter through the winding of the traction relay starter current begins to flow from the battery. Anchor switch is pulled, and the relay contacts are closed. Simultaneously the relay anchor through the lever moves the overrunning clutch with the gear. Freewheel hub rotates screw slots armature shaft and the starter turns as well a gear wheel that facilitates its input into engagement with the flywheel. Through the closed contacts of the traction relay there is a current feeding the stator windings and anchors and anchor starter starts to rotate together with a nave and overrunning clutch.

After starting the engine speed exceeds the speed gear starter armature. In this case the overrunning clutch turn freely, and the torque is transmitted from the flywheel to the armature shaft starter. After releasing the ignition feed circuit winding traction relay through the ignition switch is opened, the anchor of the traction relay is wrung out by a spring in its original position, the relay opens and the drive gear is disengaged from the flywheel.

Starter with magnetic switch is located parallel to the crankshaft of the engine and is fixed on the gearbox.

The starter is activated only when the AT selector is in position P or N.
If the vehicle is armed, the starter motor is not provernetsya.

Safety measures

When carrying out any work on the system, start the engine, observe the following.

a) Do not keep the starter motor is enabled for a long time. It may overheat and fail. Do not operate the starter more than 15 seconds before reconnecting and wait for about two minutes. If you crank the start of a long period of time, and the engine does not start, unburned fuel going inside the inverter. This can lead to overheating of the working surface of the converter after engine start.
b) the starter motor is connected directly to the battery and careless handling may ignite or cause a short circuit.
c) Before starting work, always disconnect the earth cable from the battery.
