Checking the multirebernyh accessory drive belt

Verify accessory drive belt

A - New belt
B - Depreciation of the walls - the edges are sharp (on new belts are trapezoidal)
C - the bare cord
D - Cracks in the back of the belt
E - detachment of rubber from the base
F - Depreciation of external cord

G - The gap lateral cords
N - Cracks transverse ribs
J - Damage to the edges
K - Cracks individual ribs
L - dirty or jammed stones between ribs
M - Tearing rubber on the edges

When installing drive belt, place it properly on the pulleys (strictly in the middle). Even short-term operation of the belt properly installed can cause damage!

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Schemes lining the serpentine belt accessory drive are presented in Section Replacement accessory drive belt and elements of the mechanism of its tension.
  2. Finger (using a flashlight if necessary) go over the entire length of the belt, feeling for cracks and bundles. Also check to see if the belt zapolirovat scuffs and polished sections. The belt should be examined by both sides, which implies the need to twist him to check the status of the reverse side. Along the way, check for rust, cracks and burrs on pulleys. On the working surface of the belt may be the presence of shallow perpendicular cracks. If these cracks do not extend beyond one edge and not very deep, there is no need to replace the belt.
  3. Adjust the belt tension is done automatically. Periodically check the condition of the belt, and detection of defects, replace the belt.
  4. The belt tension is performed in an automatic tensioner and does not need checking.
  5. Turn off the engine, set the transmission to neutral. Lift and establish the car on supports.
  6. Label belt with chalk in a clearly visible place.
  7. Socket wrench crank the engine for the crankshaft pulley bolt in the direction of normal rotation (clockwise) up until reappears chalk marking - carefully examine the state of the webbing along its entire length.
  8. The belt tension can be checked by strong pressure on his thumb and determine the extent of his depression. Measure the amount of deflection line. When the distance between the centers of the pulleys 180 to 280 mm, the deflection of the belt should be 6 mm. If the distance between the centers of the pulleys is in the range between 300 and 400 mm, the deflection should be 13 mm.
  9. In the presence of one or more of the damage the belt must be replaced (see chap. Engine).
  10. Make sure the belt is properly seated on pulleys.
