Service front wheel hubs and drive shafts

To perform the procedures described below require the following special tools: replaceable face head by 53 mm (models with manual transmission switching hub) or a homemade nozzle (models with automatic drive) - for the give and tightening the nut wheel bearing.

Removing and dismantling

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Loosen the nuts of the front wheel.
  2. Poddomkratte the front of the car and establish it on props, the institution under the frame side members. Remove the front wheel.
  3. If you need to replace the drive shaft, remove the drain plug and drain the oil from the crankcase of the front axle of the vehicle.
  4. Give fixing bolts and remove from the knuckle brake caliper. Tie up the side of the caliper to the suspension elements, making sure not to taut and turned out to be a twisted brake hose.
  5. On models with a manual drive switch Kit (Kit components are shown in the accompanying illustration):

Cleaning and checking the status of components

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Rinse all components with the exception of seals in the cleaning solvent and dry them with compressed air.

To avoid personal injury or damage to the bearings do not rotate them, blowing with compressed air.

  1. Check roller bearings and cups in the presence of cavities, signs of wear or damage. If necessary, replace.

Replacing individual components bearing on an individual basis is not possible, so in case of defects replacing bearing assembly.

  1. Check the condition of the threads on the end of the stub axle and the hub nut.
  2. Check hub for cracks and other damage.
  3. Inspect the drive shaft for cracks and wear of the splines. Rate SHRUS freedom of rotation when rotated at an angle of the outer drive shaft.

If the drive shaft CV joint or declared unfit for further use, you must replace them in the assembly.

  1. Check the thrust washer and the hub nut for cracks and wear.
  2. Look for cracks and other damage to the cover drive switching hub. Check freedom of movement in the clutch housing.
  3. Check the condition of the sealing ring in the drive manually, if necessary, replace the ring.

If any of the components of the manual actuator switching hub, in addition to the clutch gear found to be defective, replace the drive assembly. No special requirements for a removable locking ring of the car manufacturers do not make.

  1. Replace defective components.

Assembly and installation

If the description of the procedure is specifically agreed type of lubricant, it means the use of a universal lithium-based grease.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Using a suitable mandrel, set the inner oil seal into the crankcase of the bridge. Put the oil seal is flush with the edges of the groove. Lubricate the oil seal lips.
  2. Tamp CV joint driveshaft molybdenum disulfide grease on lithium based, insert the shaft into the axle housing and enter into engagement with the splines of the differential. Try not to damage in the course of this procedure, the internal shaft seal.
  3. Coat the thrust washer and put it on the drive shaft.
  4. Using a suitable mandrel, set in the back of the stub axle new thrust bearing and drive shaft oil seal. Lubricate the installed components.
