Steering

general information

On cars considered models applied hydrostrengthening steering circulating ball and nut. Steering vane type pump provides a desired flow of hydraulic fluid (oil) to the corresponding side of the body mounted in the steering mechanism of the valve. This increases the hydraulic pressure of the moving mechanical components helps drive control which is performed as in the case of manual steering.

Oil supply to the steering gear is provided by the pump continuously. Under normal circumstances, to maintain the flow of oil takes very little pressure that guarantees a minimum selection of engine power. At the time of the commission of parking or turn built into the worm shaft rotary valve closes the free flow of oil, providing almost instantaneous pressure increase.

The design of the steering actuator is simple enough. It consists of steering rod, tie rod and steering damper. It is possible to lubricate ball joints - just unscrew plugs and replace them special fittings to connect the grease gun.

The worm shaft is connected to the steering shaft of the steering column by means of a flexible coupling (arrangement of the steering mechanism on the car shown in the accompanying illustration).

The components of the steering mechanism and the steering pump does not need to be lubricated. In the case of system failure hydrostrengthening steering system continues to function as normal, but it increases the need for steering effort. Since the lubrication of internal components of the steering mechanism and the pump is provided with hydraulic fluid, the loss of power hydrostrengthening should immediately identify the source of the leak fluid and eliminate its cause in order to prevent wear and damage of the mechanical components.

Models of late years of release (since 1992) with bodies such as utilities (Van) (Utility) and Mini truck (Cab-Chassis) as an option can be equipped with suspension on helical springs. It uses the steering gear of the same design as on the models with a body type Hardtop (Hardtop) and Universal (Station Wagon). Perform all procedures performed well, as described in the text below the relevant section.

The steering mechanism on models of late years of release has been modified. The order of execution of all procedures is the same as that set out in the relevant sections of the chapter of the front and rear axles, chassis and steering, taking into account specified in the text of Section moments.
