On vehicles mounted 4-speed transmission type is determined by the wheel formula and engine type. The gear shift is dependent on the speed and the vacuum in the intake manifold. On transmissions RE4R01A or RL4R01A cars 1990 and 1991 GG provides an automatic switching of transmission when the motor is overloaded and lock the torque converter. These transmissions are equipped with self-diagnosis system.
Transmission selector can be in one of the 6 following provisions.
P - Parking In this position the engine is started to perform all adjustment work on the engine is running. Move the lever to this position while driving is prohibited. Used to park on slopes.

About (to the vehicle) - switching the transmission while the motor is overloaded, is automatically activated when the switch is activated (for 4-cylinder engines) or when the switch is in the position of power of the engine Auto (on engines V6).
D - in the position of the lever is translated when driving normally.
"2" - the car moves to the 2nd gear is used on steep climbs and descents, as well as when driving on wet surface. In this position the engine is experiencing maximum load.
"1" - in this position, transmission is shifted to the 1st or 2nd gear at a speed lower or higher than 40 km / h, respectively. Used for effective engine braking on steep slopes.
Repair automatic transmission is performed only in the service station. However, this alone can remove and replace the unit. If the vehicle is operated in heavy traffic when the air temperature above 30 ? C, in the mountains or often used as towing, the fluid should be changed every 24,000 km (instead of 48,000). Fluid cooler (located at the bottom of the radiator is washed in the service station. When poor performance before transmission to the conclusion of its internal device malfunction, perform the adjustment described below and verification work.
