Check the ignition coil
Check the resistance of the secondary winding of the ignition coil
| 1 - the ignition coil;
2 - terminal "1";
3 - terminal "4";
4 - terminal "15" |
The ignition coil fails very rarely. Check coil ohmmeter, measuring resistance of the primary and secondary windings in the following order:
| PERFORMANCE ORDER | | 1. To disconnect a wire from "the minus" plug of the storage battery. | | 2. Disconnect the wires from the coil. | | 3. Inspect the coil. If it is cracked, replace the coil. | | 4. To test the resistance of the primary winding connected to an ohmmeter terminals 2 and 4. The resistance must be within 0,52-0,76 ohms. | | 5. To test the resistance of the secondary winding to connect an ohmmeter to terminals 3 and 2. Resistance should be within 2.5-3.5 ohms. | | 6. If the resistance is different from the coil, replaced. Note that the coil defects are not always cold, so if there is a suspicion that the coil is faulty, it is possible to replace it with a new test. |
