Troubleshooting Starter

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. If the starter does not rotate, the first check availability at the terminal 50 of the magnetic voltage relay, which shall not be less than 8 V. If the value is lower, you should check the wiring on the starter wiring.
2. Check whether the starter gear throws with a fully charged battery.
3. Place the gearbox in neutral, turn off the ignition.
4. Using a wire (cross section of at least 4 mm 2) connect the terminals 30 and 50 a starter.
5. If the starter works properly, the fault in the wire to the starter. If the starter does not work, it must be removed to check. Test condition: wiring must be reliable and not oxidized.

CAUSE
SOLUTION
Starter does not rotate when you turn the ignition
Discharged battery Charge the battery
Connect terminals 30 and 50: the starter works. Interruption in the wire 50 to the ignition, defective ignition switch Repair the open. Defective parts replaced
Broken cable or poor connection to its mass. The battery is discharged Check battery cables and connections. Measure the voltage of the battery when you need to charge
Insufficient current strength because of the weakening of contacts or oxidation Clean poles and terminals of the battery. Restore the reliability of connections between the battery, starter and weight
No voltage at terminal 50 (magnetic switch) Broken wire. Faulty ignition switch
Starter turns too slowly and scrolls engine
The battery is discharged
Charge the battery
The engine is not flooded with winter or all-season oil (winter) Change oil
Insufficient current conductivity due to the weakening of contacts or oxidation Clean connection terminals and pole starter. Tighten connections
Graphite brushes do not adjoin to a collector, jammed in the guides are worn, broken or contaminated zamaslyany Check, clean or replace the graphite brushes. Check rails
Inadequate distance between the collector and the graphitic brushes Replace graphite brush and clean their guides
Furrows on the collector, soot or dirt Pierce a collector or replace an anchor
No voltage at terminal 50 (not less than 8V) Check the ignition switch or a magnetic switch
Split bearing Check, if necessary, replace bearings
Faulty magnetic switch Replace relay
The starter is activated and rotates the motor does not rotate or rotates intermittently
Faulty drive gear Replace the drive pinion
Gear contaminated Clean gear
Faulty flywheel Process a gear wreath, if necessary, replace the flywheel
It does not work the drive gear
Dirty drive gear. Screw thread is dirty or defective Clean drive, replace if necessary
Faulty magnetic switch Replace magnetic switch
Loose or broken return spring Replace the return spring
The starter continues to rotate after the ignition is switched off
Switch magnetic switch hangs, will not turn off Immediately turn off the ignition. Replace magnetic switch
The ignition switch is not turned off Immediately disconnect the battery. Replace the ignition switch
