Specification of engine oil

In modern engines are allowed in the main application of oils HD. Oils HD - is doped oils, lubricating properties are due to the addition of various chemicals greatly improved.

These additives provide the best protection against corrosion, increase resistance to oxidation, to the formation of turbidity in the crankcase, improved viscosity properties, have the properties to clean and dissolve. Additives for cleaning and reduce the dissolution of not only the formation of sludge in the engine, but also have the ability to dissolve carbon deposits and, together with other impurities, break down into tiny particles and keep them in suspension, so that when the oil is changed, they merge together with the oil.

Oil quality is HD in the API (API: American Petroleum Institut). The designation is given two letters. The first letter indicates the area of application: S = service, suitable for petrol engines; C = commercial, suitable for diesel engines. The second letter indicates the quality of in alphabetical order. The highest quality in the API specification SG have oil for gasoline internal combustion engines and CD for diesel engines.

A warning

Motor oil CD, specified by the manufacturer, as the only oil for diesel engines, gasoline engines to not fit. There are oils that are suitable for gasoline and diesel engines. In this case both the specification are marked on the package (eg: SG / CD).

VW AG established VW car models for its oil norms. Oil should be used to meet these standards. If there is doubt about the application of oil allowed to be possible to consult with sales representatives.

For gasoline engines requiring oils operating at high load, which must simultaneously meet two standards VW 50000 and 50500. Can also be used easy flow rate of oil VW-50000 or multigrade oils VW-50101 standards. Year-round oil, corresponding to normal VW-50101, is generally more expensive. If there is no oil of this specification, it is possible to temporarily use the seasonal or multigrade oil specifications API-SG.

The diesel engines can be used motor oil specification VW 50101, VW 50500, API-CD or the easy flow of oil VW 50000.
