Checking sensors and oil pressure

Check oil pressure gauge 0,3 bar

With 2 oil pressure sensor, actuated by different oil pressure. Oil Pressure Switch 0,3 bar is colored brown; oil pressure of 1.8 bar has a white insulation. Instead, oil pressure of 1.8 bar, the diesel engine has a sensor 0.9 bar with a gray insulation.

4-cylinder engine

Oil Pressure Switch 0,3 bar is located on the front side of the cylinder head to the left in the engine compartment. Oil pressure switch 1.8 / 0.9 bar screwed on top of the oil filter bracket.

5-cylinder engine

Both the oil pressure sensor located on the left side of the cylinder bore to guide the oil dipstick.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Check the oil level.
2. Check the wiring of both the oil pressure sensor according to the wiring diagram.
3. Remove the oil pressure of 0.3 bar (brown insulation).
4. Instead of the oil pressure sensor gauge screw fitting.
5. If using the meter VW, screw the oil pressure gauge to the test instrument.

A warning

The above test can be made if only it is possible to screw the sensor into a pressure gauge. Otherwise, it can only be checked sensors 1.8 / 0.9 bar.

6. Connect the tester to earth (-).
7. Connect using an additional wire, a device for measuring the voltage (multimeter or diode LED) to the oil pressure switch 0.3 (A) and the positive terminal of the battery.
8. Control lamp or light emitting diode should light up.
9. Start the engine and gradually raise the speed.
10. Once the gauge reads 0,15-0,45 bar, but no more, the control lamp goes out. Otherwise, the oil pressure of 0.3 bar to replace.

A warning

If necessary, check the response time of the oil pressure sensor when the motor starter.

Oil pressure switch 1.8 / 0.9 bar
11. Disconnect the wiring from the sensor 1.8 / 0.9 bar (white / gray insulation).
12. With the help of additional wires to connect the device for measuring the voltage (multimeter or diode LED) to the oil pressure switch 1.8 / 0.9 bar and the positive pole of the battery.
13. The control lamp should not burn.
Oil Pressure Switch 1,8 bar
14. Raise the momentum until the gauge indicates 1.6 to 1.8 bar. Now, the test lamp should light up, otherwise, replace the oil pressure switch.
Oil Pressure Switch 0,9 bar
15. Raise the momentum until the gauge indicates 0.75 to 1.05 bar. Now, the test lamp should light up, otherwise, replace the oil pressure switch.

Checking oil pressure

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Raise the engine speed to 2000 rev / min. Oil temperature 80 ? C, the oil pressure at these speeds should be not less than 2.0 bar.
2. Lower oil pressure indicates wear of crankshaft main bearings.
3. Raise the pace is even higher. Oil pressure must not exceed the maximum permissible value. Otherwise, replace the oil pump with the pressure relief valve.
4. Install the oil pressure gauge with a new sealing ring and tighten to 25 Nm.
