Repair of the front wheel brake caliper

The order of execution of repair works is as follows:
1) Preparation:
- Remove the hub cap and the wheel;
- Thoroughly clean the caliper;
2) Drain the brake fluid:
- Remove the cap from the drain fitting, connect the hose and open the choke;
- Lock the brake pedal in the down position by the holder;
- Gather exiting the brake fluid into a container;
- Oslavte bolt brake fluid hose;
3) Remove the front caliper assembly:

- Remove the screw 1 (Fig. 6.6) union "banjo" with its seals;
- Remove the two screws 2 of the caliper guide pin;
- Remove the brake pads 4;
4) Disassemble the support:
- Put a piece of wood in front of the piston;

Pulling out the piston from the caliper
Fig. 6.7. Pulling out the piston from the caliper

- Carefully press out the piston by means of compressed air (fig. 6.7);

A WARNING
Be careful to avoid pinching the fingers when pressing out the piston.

- Remove Dirt cuff;
- Remove the O-ring so as not to damage the edges of the grooves;
- Remove the drain fitting;
5) Clean and check the slide:
- Wash items with alcohol;
- Check for wear, damage, cracks and rust. If necessary, replace components;
- Be sure to replace the O-ring and cuff Dirt;
- Thoroughly clean the channels and grooves for O-rings and cuffs Dirt.
In the presence of the cylinder scratches or scratches, replace the caliper assembly.
Small deposits of rust, remove fine sanding sandpaper.
6) Assemble the saddle:
- Blow compressed air parts;
- Lubricate the brake fluid surface of the cylinder;
- Put the O-ring into the cylinder;
- Dirt put a cuff on the piston;
- Put the piston into the cylinder Dirt collar until it stops;
- Make sure that the cuff Dirt fell into place;
- Put the drain fitting and tighten it to 5 Nm.
7) Check the surface of the brake disc. If the brake disc shows signs of irregularities, check the lateral runout. If the brake disc is badly worn, has a groove, replace it. Measure the thickness of the disc (see the regulations. In Section. "Technical Data");
8) secure the brake disc to the hub. Place the flat side of the wheel nuts and tighten them to a torque of 110 Nm.
9) Measure the lateral runout of brake disc:

Setting the indicator for measuring the lateral runout of the brake disc
Fig. 6.8. Setting the indicator for measuring the lateral runout of the brake disc

- Set the indicator to the brake disk (Fig. 6.8);
- Slowly rotating hub forward with an Allen wrench to determine the indicator runout. Maximum allowable runout 0.04 mm. If lateral runout exceeds the norm, or replace, if necessary grinding tool to grind the brake disc, basing it on the contact surface to the hub.

NOTE
The heartbeat can be caused by the beating of the hub. If necessary, also check the lateral runout of the hub.

10) Measure the lateral runout of the wheel hub:
- Remove the brake disc;
- Set the tip of the indicator on the hub flange;
- Slowly rotating hub forward with an Allen wrench, determine the beating. Maximum allowable runout 0.05 mm. If lateral runout exceeds the norm wheel hub, zame6nite hub (see chap. 7 "front suspension and steering system");
11) Check the front brake caliper guide:
- Check the rubber sleeve guide pin, replace them if necessary;
- Lubricate if necessary fingers silicone grease Volvo (part number 1161325-4) and insert them into the rubber bushings;
12) Put the brake pads, check the wear indicator;
13) Install the caliper guide pins. Tighten the caliper mounting bolts to 35 N ? m;
14) Connect the brake hose with new seals. Tighten to a torque of 15 Nm; make sure that the brake hose is not twisted.
15) bleed the brake system (see. Div. "Bleeding brake system");
16) Put the wheel and slightly tighten the nuts. Then tighten them diagonally torque of 110 Nm.
