The cylinder block of the engine shown in Fig. 2.1.
The cylinder block is cast from a special low-alloy cast iron. The diameters of the cylinders are divided into classes. Cylinder class stamp on the underside of the engine block.
It is possible to bore the cylinders under the repair pistons, enlarged diameter.
Crankshaft bearing caps are processed, together with the cylinder block, so they are not interchangeable and have different tags outer surface.

Check
Wash the cylinder block, clean the oil passages.
Blowing and dry compressed air, inspect the engine block. Cracks in any area of the cylinder is not allowed.
If there is a suspicion of entering the coolant in the crankcase of the engine, check for leaks on a special stand cylinder. To do this, drowning out the holes of the cooling jacket of the cylinder by supplying it with water at room temperature under a pressure of 0.3 MPa (3 kgf / cm 2). Within two minutes shall be no leakage of water from the unit.
If oil gets into the cooling liquid, without complete disassembly of the engine, check for cracks at the cylinder in the areas of oil channels. To do this, drain the cooling system, remove the cylinder head fill the cooling jacket of the cylinder with water and compressed air supply in vertical oil passage of the cylinder. In case of air bubbles in the water filling the cooling jacket, replace the cylinder block.
Check the parting plane of the cylinder head unit line and a set of shims. The range set by the plane diagonals of the middle in the longitudinal direction and transversely flatness tolerance of 0.15 mm.
Inspect cylinders.
Measure the diameter of each cylinder in the upper, middle and lower part parallel to the axis of the crankshaft.
Measure the diameter of each cylinder in the upper, middle and lower parts thereof perpendicular to the axis of the crankshaft.
The taper of the cylinder is calculated as the difference between the upper and lower diameters, ovality - the difference between the parallel and the perpendicular measurements.
If the results do not match the specifications, refer to specialists.
Stepped wear at the top of the cylinder is removed with a sweep.
The spare parts are supplied four pistons repair sizes.
Repair dimensions and marking pistons:
increased by 0.25 mm ..... 0.25
increased by 0.50 mm 0.50 .....
increased by 0.75 mm 0.75 .....
increased by 1.00 mm 1.00 .....

When the cylinder bore size to repair is necessary to maintain the required clearance between the piston and the cylinder oversize pistons and install the same oversize.
The diameter of the piston is measured at a distance of 47 mm from the bottom of the piston at right angles to the lug.
