The camshaft and its drive



Device features
Camshaft iron, cast, the number of poles is dependent on the design of the cylinder head (the type of engine). Countertops cams and necks under the gland bleached to increase durability.
To eliminate axial movement of the camshaft to the back of his hand a flange.
Camshaft drive (regardless of the type of engine) carried by the toothed belt pulley mounted on the crankshaft. For belt tension is a tension roller that does not have teeth. It rotates on an axis,
mounted on a bracket that is attached to the cylinder block. By changing the position of the arm relative to its mounting bolts, you can change the belt tension.

Dismantling of the camshaft drive
Remove the bolt coolant pump pulley.
Remove the bolt of the generator.
Remove the water pump pulley and the drive belt.
Remove the crankshaft pulley.
Uncover the timing.

Crank set the piston of 1st cylinder in position of TDC, with the marks on the camshaft pulleys and crankshaft must be aligned with the marks on the engine (Fig. 2.54, 2.55, 2.56, 2.57).

Loosen the tension roller and move the roller to the coolant pump. Tighten the bolt clips (Fig. 2.58 and 2.59).
Remove toothed timing belt.

A WARNING
The toothed belt should not be bent. Bent timing belt should be replaced, as it may break during use, causing serious damage to the engine.

If you are installing a belt which was in operation, be sure to consider the direction of rotation (Fig. 2.60). Belt installation work "backwards" can cause it to rupture and thus in serious engine damage.
Remove the camshaft sprocket.
Unscrew the crankshaft pulley.
Remove the tension roller timing belt.
Checking the technical condition of the timing belt
Check the belt for lubrication and dust pollution. If necessary, replace a belt. Slight lubrication or contamination, remove dust with a dry cloth or paper. The solvents for cleaning, do not use.
When the engine bulkhead or adjusting belt tension carefully check the condition of the belt. Replace the new belt in the presence of at least one of the following defects.
1. Hardening of the outer surface of the belt (outer belt surface gloss, not elastic and hardened to such an extent that the pressing of the nail remains dents).
2. On the outer surface of the belt has a crack.
3. On the inner surface of the belt cracked or broken teeth.

Technical condition sprocket, and tensioner pulley
Check the camshaft pulleys and crankshaft, the tensioner and idler pulleys for excessive wear, cracks or damage.
If necessary, replace defective parts.

Check the ease and smoothness of rotation and tensioning pulley

Check the ease and smoothness of rotation and the tension pulley (Fig. 2.80), make sure that there is no extraneous noise and play.
If necessary, replace the rollers.
Replace the rollers in the presence of traces of leak of lubrication of the bearings.

Install flange and toothed crankshaft pulley, as shown in Fig. 2.81. At installation pay special attention to their relative position.
Install the camshaft sprocket bolt and tighten it to a torque of 80-100 Nm.
Install the pulley and tighten a bolt of its fastening torque 43-55 Nm.

Align the mark A on the camshaft sprocket with the mark on the bearing cap in the shaft (Fig. 2.82).

Install the crankshaft pulley (in callout shows the timing marks)

Then set the piston of 1st cylinder in firing TDC position and align the mark on the crankshaft pinion with a label on the front cover of the cylinder, as shown in Fig. 2.83.

Install the tensioner spring (Fig. 2.84) and spacer sleeve, temporarily tighten the bolts. Then tighten the bolt with a washer in the oval opening bracket tension roller.

Start the lower end of the spring for the front cover of the cylinder, as shown in Fig. 2.85.
Fix the tensioner roller in this position (shifted to the coolant pump).
Install the timing belt on the crankshaft pulley.
