Check and replace the ignition switch / lock cylinder



All considered models are equipped with an airbag. Cushion resides in the "heads-up" state and may operate (inflate) at any time at the connected battery. To avoid inadvertent deployment of the air (and result in the injury) each time when carrying out any work on the components of the security system disconnect the negative wire from the battery. After disconnecting the cables from the battery before starting work Wait for at least two minutes (the system is equipped with a condenser, which takes time to discharge). The ignition switch is located on the right side of the steering column and is secured thereto in sealed three screws with heads of type TORX (T-20) for the give that special tool is required (ask in shops of automobile accessories).

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remove the lock (see. P.
  2. Using an ohmmeter or a battery lamp equipped private-probe check the continuity between terminals of the castle.
  3. If the specification requirements for the continuity of the switch (lock) of ignition are not met, replace it.

Replacement

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Disconnect the negative wire from the battery.
  2. Remove the top and bottom covers of the column cover (head body).
  3. Give sealed screws, separate the ignition lock of the steering column, and then disunite an electric socket and remove the lock from the column.

The ignition lock is attached by means of three screws sealed with heads of type TORX (arrow) (lower screw is located under the lid).

  1. If necessary, the removal of the cylinder lock, insert the key and turn it to LOCK. On models prior to 1994 (inclusive), the no. push the locking pin small screwdriver so that it is level with the surface. On models 1995 Vol. instead of fixing pins are sealed screw which is necessary for the release of the cylinder to give.
  1. Push the locking pin to release the lock cylinder - models 1995 Vol. Give the sealed screw.
  1. Turn the key clockwise is OFF, thus releasing the lock cylinder, however, is not to be finally removed the last.
  1. After the release of the cylinder of the lock to be released approximately 3 mm - not try to remove it before the key is turned to the LOCK position and removed from the lock.
  1. Install in reverse order. After the engagement of the slide switch with traction parking, make sure that the locking switch on the check box column is parallel to the electric socket.
  1. Before installing, make sure that the lock box speakers on the lock stood parallel to the electric socket.
  1. Insert the cylinder into the LOCK position to lock in the bottom of the castle. Pressing cylinder, insert the key and turn it clockwise to position RUN. On models 1995 Vol. sealed screw propeller.
