Removing and installing steering knuckle



The procedure is applicable to both wheel drive models, and the models 2WD. When working on 2WD models simply lower the points related to the components of a four-wheel drive vehicles.

Withdrawal

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Loosen the wheel nuts, Poddomkratte car and establish it on props. Remove the wheel.
  2. Disconnect from the steering knuckle tie rod (Section Removal and installation of the steering mechanism).
  3. Remove the caliper and the brake disc (Head Brake system).
  4. Remove the front axle hub and bearing assembly, and then remove the drive shaft (Chapter Clutch and transmission line).
  5. Disconnect the electrical connector ABS sensor wheel and remove the gauge.
  1. Disconnect the electrical connector ABS sensor wheel, give the cap screw (arrow) and remove the gauge.
  1. Remove the cotter pin and loosen - but not remove - crown nuts for ball bearings. To remove the pins from the knuckle ball bearings tap it on top of a hammer or use a small scraper.
  1. If tapping the top of the knuckle does not help to remove it from the stud of any of the balls, use a small scraper (pictured puller installed on the upper hinge pin; removal of a fist with the lower support stud made similarly).
  1. Carefully check fist for cracks, paying particular attention to the steering arm and landing portion of the spindle. Check the holes for the fingers of ball bearings for the presence of roundness. In the event of any of the defects replace fist.

Setting

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Install the knuckle to the forked beam axle and insert it in the hole in the stud ball joints. Screw the nuts and tighten them with demanded effort. Lock nuts with locking pins.
  2. Replace the drive shaft (Chapter Clutch and transmission line).
  3. Install the hub and bearing assembly (Chapter Clutch and transmission line).
  4. Insert the disc and brake caliper (Head Brake system).
  5. Connect the tie rod to the steering knuckle (Section Removal and installation of the steering mechanism).
  6. Install the wheel and its mounting screws. Lower the car on the earth and tighten wheel nuts with demanded effort (Head of Adjustment and routine maintenance).
