Removing and installing steering wheel

All considered models are equipped with an airbag. Cushion resides in the "heads-up" state and may operate (inflate) at any time at the connected battery. To avoid inadvertent deployment of the air (and result in the injury) each time when carrying out any work on the components of the security system disconnect the negative wire from the battery. After disconnecting the cables from the battery before starting work Wait for at least two minutes (the system is equipped with a condenser, which takes time to discharge). Read more about system security, see. Head System of an onboard electric equipment.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Install the steering wheels of the car in a straight line. Disconnect the negative wire from the battery.

If your car audio system is equipped with a security code before to disconnect the negative cable from the battery, make sure you dispose of the system to enter into force after completion of the work.

  1. Give the four mounting nuts and disconnect the airbag module from the steering column. Disconnect the electrical connector module. When working with the unit always hold the open side of his body. Always place the unit on a workbench or other surface with the open side up (in any case, not down!).
  1. To remove the airbag module Give the top nuts (top right nut occupies the same position on the opposite side of the steering wheel), ..

... And the bottom nuts (right similarly located on the opposite side of the steering wheel).

  1. Release the locking tabs and disunite an electric socket of the airbag module.
  1. Give a nut of fastening of a steering wheel, and then mark the position of the steering shaft against the hub (if the label is not applied, or if they are not aligned) in order to simplify assembly.

Avoid turning the steering shaft after removal of the steering wheel.

  1. Before removing the steering wheel to make sure the combination of adjusting labels on its hub and shaft journal columns (if any); If the labels are not available, apply them yourself using a scribe or white paint.
  1. With the help of a stripper remove a steering wheel from the shaft. In no case do not bring down the wheel from the shaft with a hammer.
  1. Remove the steering wheel from the shaft only by means of a stripper DO NOT SBIVYTE it with a hammer!
  1. If the position of the steered wheels during the procedure does not change (they were sent straight line), you can now set the steering wheel in place. If the wheels are turning, you must make an alignment coil spring airbags. To do this, the front wheels are strictly rectilinear and rotate the rotor of the clock spring clockwise until it stops (do not apply too much force). Now turn the rotor on two and a half turn counterclockwise. In this position, the wire should be at the top of the horn and airbag module wires - at the bottom.

Details airbag clock spring.

  1. To install a steering wheel achieve combination of adjusting labels on its hub and the shaft journal. Install nut and tighten it with demanded effort.
  2. Replace the air bag module. Screw the four nuts and tighten them with demanded effort.
  3. Connect a wire to the negative terminal of the battery
