Overview

Scheme of the transmission of torque from the transfer case drive wheels of a vehicle

1 - Front axle differential housing
2 - Carter (sleeve) of the output shaft of the front axle
3 - Left driveshaft

4 - Hub assembly
5 - Transfer Case
6 - Carter rear axle differential

Front axle

The transfer of torque from the propeller shaft to the front wheels of a vehicle in 4WD mode provides equipped unlockable differential hypoid final drive and equipped with a pair of constant velocity joint driveshafts.

Differential between the drive shaft and the left arm in the bridge set the output shaft gear.

The hubs of the front wheels come standard with automatic freewheel with vacuum actuator that, if necessary, can be replaced by automatic overtaking or mechanical with manual switching.

Rear Axle

The rear axle has a continuous structure. Placed inside the axle housing a pair of the drive axle brought into engagement with the side gears unlockable differential hypoid final drive, receiving torque from the rear propeller shaft. On all-wheel drive petrol models equipped with engine DOHC, rear axle can optionally be staffed with limited slip differential limited slip (LSD).
