It does not require disassembly of components verification procedures and maintenance elements of the drive wheels

Front axle

Reducer

Checking and adjustment of the lubricant level

See chap. Current care and maintenance.

Replacement Radial Shaft drive pinion

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Post the car off the ground.
  2. Drain the oil from the differential case (see chap. Current care and maintenance).
  3. Disconnect from the front axle assembly of the propeller shaft (see. Some drive shafts).
  1. Before you release the nut of the connecting flange, measure the rotation starting force differential and the amount of movement linking driving and driven main gear, - the results of measurements record.
  1. With the help of a special device holding the flange against rotation, release the retaining nut.
  1. With the help of a stripper remove the flange, and then by prying with a screwdriver, remove the old packing.
  1. Lubricate a new oil seal used for charging the differential oil and using a suitable mandrel press-fit it into the receptacle differential housing.
  1. Replace the flange and tighten the nut of its fastening with effort, providing the required force starting rotation differential.
  2. Connect driveshaft (see. Some drive shafts), and then make a refueling differential oil (see chap. Current care and maintenance).

Drive shafts

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Visually assess the condition of the anthers hinges both drive shafts. Clutching anthers, make sure there are no cracks, cuts and signs of aging of the material. Please rate the reliability of fixing anther support straps (banding).
  2. Inspect trees for signs of obvious distortions.
  1. Pulled each shaft in the vertical and horizontal directions, make sure there are no signs of abating their landing.

Vacuum drive clutches (with appropriate equipment)

Scheme of the vacuum unit freewheels

1 - The vacuum source (inlet pipe)
2 - control valve
3 - Vacuum reservoir (in the left rear corner of the engine compartment)
4 - Breather
5 - Three-way e / m Valve
6 - Signal activate 4WD from the relay activation signal indicator in the instrument cluster

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Make sure of serviceability of operation of the tally lamp incorporating four-wheel drive mode (see chap. Controls and operation receptions).
  2. Please rate the overall condition of the pipes and hoses vacuum path, make sure the reliability of their fixation on fittings connectors.
1 - Vacuum tank
2 - Vacuum Tube
3 - Three-way e / m Valve
  1. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the nipple on the knuckle and with a manual vacuum pump to create a vacuum fitting depth of about 550 mm Hg. Art. If ? vacuum assembly is held for less than 1 minute, replace the freewheel, ensure beforehand that it is not destroyed by planting a layer of sealant on its mating surface.
1 - vacuum tube
2 - Knuckle
3 - Brake disc

Wheel bearings

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Lift and tie up brake caliper (see chap. Brake System), remove the clutch (see. Section Removal, service and installation of components assemblies front and rear axles) and using the meter plunger type (DTI) measure the magnitude of the lateral runout of the brake disc circumferentially distant from the center of hub 12 mm.
  1. If necessary, adjust the preload, or remove and replace the hub bearings (see. Section Removal, service and installation of components assemblies front and rear axles).

Rear Axle

Checking and adjustment of the lubricant level

See chap. Current care and maintenance.

Replacement Radial Shaft drive pinion

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. The procedure is similar to the procedure described above for the front axle.
