Starting the engine from the auxiliary power supply
Use of the auxiliary power supply can help you make the engine run in an extreme situation, but then must find and eliminate the cause of low battery, the most typical are:
a) Implementation of repeated unsuccessful attempts to start the engine or leaving lighting on for a long time with the engine;
b) Infringement of serviceability of functioning of the system charge (weakened or broken alternator drive belt, damaged connective wiring or defective generator itself).
c) The fault is in fact the battery (the electrolyte level dropped or left battery life).
When the engine is started by an external power supply should be given to comply with some special precautions:
a) Before you connect the auxiliary battery, make sure the ignition is switched off;
b) Ensure that all electrical consumers (lighting and heaters, wipers, etc.) have also been turned off;
c) Wear protective gloves and glasses;
d) Make sure that the auxiliary battery is of the output voltage setting on your car;
e) When an auxiliary power supply is used the battery installed in another vehicle, make sure that vehicles DO not touch each other;
f) Make sure that the transmission is included in neutral (Manual), or switched to "P" (AT);
g) In serviceable battery, remove the vent caps and cover the holes with rags.
Connect the end of the red wire from a special kit to the positive terminal of the low battery. The other end of the red wire to the positive terminal of the auxiliary battery. |
One end of the black cable from the kit to connect the negative terminal of the auxiliary battery. The other end of the black wire is connected to a properly grounded point to start the engine block (bolt or bracket), as far as possible away from the battery.
Make sure that the connecting wires are not in contact with moving components in the engine compartments of both cars (equipped with a fan, belts, etc.).
Follow the standard procedure for starting the engine. Leave the engine running at idle. Turn on the headlights, rear window heater and the heater fan, then disconnect the wires, acting in the reverse order of their connection (see. Above). When finished, turn off unnecessary electrical consumers.  | Inclusion of auxiliary electricity consumers in order to prevent power surges when disconnecting the wiring. |
