Fault diagnosis system of electric motor

Battery and charging system

Low battery level
Dangling the drive belt (s) generator, or eased the tension. Check belt (see. Accompanying illustration). Adjust tension or replace the belt (s).

Defective control voltage. Replace the defective block.

Defective battery. Install the new battery properly charged the desired type.

Faulty Generator. Perform necessary regenerative repair, or replace the generator.

Faulty wiring circuit charge. Check, make the necessary repairs or replace the wiring.

Faulty electrical connections loop charge. Check, make the necessary repairs or replace defective parts.

Blown fuse. Rectify the reason for the insertion fails, replace the insert.

Check the charge level (specific gravity) of the battery (see chap. Systems of an electric motor). If the battery is too low, try to identify the cause, acting in the above order.

Excessively high level of battery charge

Defective control voltage. Replace the defective block.

Faulty Generator. Perform necessary regenerative repair, or replace the generator.

Faulty wiring or electrical connectors of the charge circuit. Check, make the necessary repairs or replace defective parts.

A sign of overcharging the battery electrolyte boil-off is permanent, it is usually accompanied by discoloration.

Charge indicator lamp stays on after the engine is started, or the voltmeter registers too low voltage

Dangling the drive belt (s) generator, or eased the tension. Check belt .. Adjust tension or replace the belt (s).

Defective control voltage. Replace the defective block.

Faulty Generator. Perform necessary regenerative repair, or replace the generator.

There is a short to ground in the wiring of a control lamp power. Check, do the necessary corrections.

Defective voltmeter. Perform the necessary repair or replace the defective device.

Charge indicator lamp / voltmeter is not functioning

The lamp. Check, replace.

There is a broken wiring or faulty lamp holder. Check, perform the necessary repairs.

Faulty diode oscillator. Perform the necessary repairs.

Defective voltmeter. Perform the necessary repair or replace the defective device.

There have been noises coming from the drive belt (s) or generator

Wiped off the drive belt (s) or broken flatness arrangement of pulleys. Replace the belt (s) or align the pulleys.

Loose bolts generator or worn bearings last. Tighten fittings or replace the bearings.

Is loose alternator drive pulley. Tighten pulley nut with demanded effort.

Defective diodes generator. Perform the necessary repairs.

To locate the source of the noise generator to loosen the fit and remove the belt (belts). If you run the engine for a short time, the noise does not appear, check the condition of the belt (s) and manually rotate the generator to check his bearings (see. Accompanying illustration).

Battery and start system

Starter does not develop enough power to crank the engine

The battery is low. Check the battery system, perform any necessary repairs.

Battery is not "holding" charge. Check the batteries in case of need make replacement.

Oxidized terminals or battery cable lugs or weakened last mount. Strip, tighten the screw terminals.

Faulty starter. Check, perform necessary regenerative repair.

Faulty switch or pulling the starter relay disrupted the quality of contacts. Check, if necessary, replace the magnetic switch.

Check the battery level and the condition and reliability of fastening of all terminal connections. If necessary, check if the starter and make the necessary repairs (see chap. Systems of an electric motor).

Ignition system

The engine does not start

There is a defect in the ignition primary circuit. Check the path, do the necessary repairs.

Faulty primary or secondary winding of the ignition coil. Replace coil.

On models 4.2 l may be a burning or dirty contacts of the breaker. Strip or replace the pins, adjust breaker.

On models 3.0 l possible violation of setting the air gap sensor rotor ignition. Perform the necessary adjustments.

On models 3.0 l possible failure of the signal rotor, stator, or the control unit. Replace defective components.
Cracked distributor cap or hold carbon track on the inner side thereof (see. Accompanying illustration). Replace.

Cracked Rotor, distributor. Replace.
There is a defect in wiring explosives. Check (see. Accompanying illustration), replace.

Spark plugs or broken electrode gap setting. Replace or smooth out the candles and set the electrode gap.

On models 4.2 l may be damaged ballast. Replace the defective component.

Perform inspection of the ignition system described in the section on diagnosis of failure when starting the engine on the road. If the detected failure of the ignition system, check the electrical portion of the system (see chap. Systems of an electric motor).

Motor runs, but does not develop the required power

Broken ignition timing. Check and correct.

Jammed or excessively worn mechanism centrifugal ignition advance corrector. Overhauled distributor.

Do not operate the vacuum-proof-reader ignition timing. Check the condition of hoses and the condition of the unit.

Vacuum-corrector operates with reduced efficiency. Disconnected or broken drive traction.

Or dirty spark plugs are faulty or broken electrode gap setting. Replace candles or clean them and set electrode gap.

On models 4.2 l may be contaminated by the breaker or was a violation of their installation. Strip and adjust the contacts or replace them.

The cover of the distributor of accumulated condensate. Check the dry cap and check for cracks and coal paths.

Faulty ignition coil. Check, replace.

Faulty wire explosives. Check, replace defective.

On models 3.0 l possible violation of setting the air gap sensor rotor ignition. Perform the necessary adjustments.

On models 3.0 l possible failure of the signal rotor, stator, or the control unit. Replace defective components.

To check the serviceability of functioning centrifugal ignition advance corrector, remove the distributor cap and turn the slider in the direction of normal rotation. After releasing the slider must spontaneously return to its original position (see. Accompanying illustration).

We have the misfire

Or dirty spark plugs are faulty or broken electrode gap setting. Replace candles or clean them and set electrode gap.

The cover of the distributor of accumulated condensate. Check the dry cap and check for cracks and coal paths.

Cracked porcelain insulator one or more spark plugs.

Faulty ignition coil. Check, replace.

Faulty wire explosives. Check, replace defective.

Faulty slider or cover the rev limiter.
