Troubleshooting steering

Excessive play of the steering wheel

Worn ball joints components of a steering drive or weakened their landing. Tighten fittings or replace the defective components.

Worn steering or violation of its adjustment. If, after the adjustment of steering wheel does not come back to normal, you need to make an overhaul of the steering mechanism with the replacement of defective components and final adjustment.

Worn bushings cross-reactive rod. Replace the sleeve.

Weakened landing bipod at sectoral steering shaft. Tighten the fixing nut.

Loose bolts steering assembly (see. Accompanying illustration). Tighten fasteners.

Defective flexible coupling or the steering shaft. Replace defective components.

Luft components of a steering drive is best manifested in the lowered front-wheel car. Ask the assistant to turn the steering wheel and visually assess the degree of wear of the drive components of a steering. If the slack steering obviously manifested in the straight position of the front wheels of the car, most likely adjustment mechanism is broken. If the play does not disappear after the adjustment, steering gear must be removed for overhaul works.

There is a very tight turn of the steering wheel

Too weak or unevenly inflated tires. Check the inflation pressure, if necessary, make adjustments.

Fell hydraulic fluid level in the reservoir system hydrostrengthening wheel. Check for signs of leaks, make the necessary corrections and / or replacement. Add a liquid to a desired level.

Disturbed adjust the steering mechanism. Check perform the necessary adjustments.

There jamming steering shaft. Determine the cause of jamming, replace defective components.

The steering pump does not provide the proper pressure. Check the condition and the tension of the drive belt of the pump and the hydraulic fluid level in the reservoir system hydrostrengthening. If necessary, replace the pump.

Check sufficient depth of pattern and correct inflation pressure of tires on both front wheels.
Before proceeding to the verification of the geometric parameters of the steering gear, estimate degree of deterioration of components of the front axle.

Car at rectilinear movement on a horizontal surface leads to one of the parties

Unevenly inflated tires or worn. Check the condition and inflation pressure of tires. If necessary, replace the tires or the adjustment of the pressure.

Broken alignment of the front wheels. Check, make adjustments. "Prihvachen" brakes of the front wheels. Check the calipers for signs of brake fluid leaks and jamming of the pistons. Replace defective components.

Damaged components of the front suspension and front beam of the chassis. Check. Replace defective components.

If the tires of the front wheels of the car were found in satisfactory condition, lift the front of the vehicle and turn both front wheels to test the brakes on "tacking."
To check the alignment of the front wheels, measure the distance from the center of the disc to the center of the front wheel drive the rear wheels on both sides of the car. In the straight position of the front wheels must be the same measurements.

There is a lateral runout and angular oscillatory motion controlled wheels that occurs at low speeds (shimmy)

Is loose steering. Make adjustment or overhaul of the steering mechanism.

Faulty steering damper or destroyed as a result of the aging of the material its rubber sleeve. Remove the shock absorber and check its condition (see. Accompanying illustration). if necessary, replace the rubber bushings.

Unevenly worn or improperly inflated tires. Check the condition and inflation pressure of tires. If necessary, replace the tires or the adjustment of the pressure.

Broken wheel balancing. Check rebalance.

There is damage to the components or breach geometry front of the vehicle. Check to make the necessary corrections or adjustments geometrical parameters.

Worn bearings of the front wheels or grossly violated their adjustment. Check the condition of bearings, preload adjust, or replace the bearings.

Broken alignment of the front wheels of the car. Make sure make the necessary adjustments.

Worn ball joints, or weakened their landing. Check tighten fasteners or replace the defective components.

Check the condition of components of the steering gear. Lift the front of the vehicle for checking and adjusting the preload wheel bearings. To check the condition of bearings alternately tug wheels laterally grasping them at the top and bottom. Luft must completely absent.

He has been a violation of the steering or loss of directional stability

Broken alignment of the front wheels. Check, if necessary, make adjustments.

Threadbare tread tires of the front wheels. Check, if necessary, replace the tire.

Excessive steering play drive. Check, replace worn parts, if necessary, make the adjustment of the steering mechanism.

Exceeded or belittling the tire inflation pressure. Check for correct pressure.

Weakened, or exhibited properly preload the front hub bearing. Check out, make the necessary adjustments.

Excessive play in the ball joints. Check, replace defective components. Also check the condition of covers of spherical hinges.

Broken up serviceability of functioning of power steering

Dangling steering pump drive belt, broken or adjustment of effort of its tension. Check belt (see. Accompanying illustration), replace or tighten the belt with the required effort.

Fell the liquid level in the tank hydrostrengthening steering system. Check for fluid leaks, make the necessary repairs or replace defective parts. Add a liquid to a desired level.

The steering pump does not provide the proper pressure. Check, if necessary replace the pump.

Faulty assembly hydrostrengthening steering mechanism. Remove the assembly, make it a major overhaul.

There have been leaks of hydraulic fluid

Damaged hydraulic fluid reservoir, the steering pump or steering, or diminished their attachment. Check tighten fasteners or replace the defective components.

It damaged or destroyed as a result of material aging hydraulic hoses. Check, replace defective hoses.

Check carefully for signs of leaks all hydraulic lines hydrostrengthening steering system (see. Accompanying illustration).

There have been noises hydrostrengthening steering

Damaged steering pump drive belt, or eased the tension. Adjust the tension of the belt or replace it.

The hydraulic system is air. Bleed the system.

Incorrectly connected hoses and tubes hydraulic lines or weakened their couplings. Connect the lines correctly, tighten the couplings.

Shifted the support brackets of the steering pump or weakened their mount. Correct position of the bracket, tighten fasteners.

Violation cross hydraulic lines can also be a cause of noise in the steering mechanism. Inspect hoses and tubing lines for kinks and twists.
