Fuel injection system / Ignition

The fault code is indicated by a series of long (0.6 seconds) and short (0.3 seconds) flashes a warning lamp on the instrument panel and the red LED on the right side of the electronic control unit. Long flashes that indicate the first digit of the fault, are presented first, and then, after about 0.9 seconds, coming short flashes, which represent the second digit of the code. Between the codes issued by faults made at intervals of about 2.1 seconds. After all codes will be issued, the electronic control unit starts to give trouble codes first, with an interval of 2.1 seconds.

General Diagnosis

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. If the fuel injection system / Ignition fault occurs, first check that all the connectors are securely connect the system are connected and not corroded.
2. Next, check to see if the cause of the fault poor maintenance of the engine; ie, make sure that the air filter element is not clogged to the spark plugs are in good condition and had the correct spark gap to the valve clearances of the engine are properly adjusted and the compression pressure in the cylinders conform to the required value.
3. Also check that the ignition timing has been set correctly and to work correctly emission control system. See subsection 7.7.1 and subsection 6.4 for more information.
4. If these checks do not help locate the source of trouble, a quick check can be made chains of fuel injection / ignition, setting the electronic engine control unit in the self-test mode "2".
5. In the "2", the electronic control unit will show the fault code recorded in its memory, including a signal lamp on the dashboard or the red LED on the right side of the control unit.
6. Records of malfunctions detected by the electronic control unit is stored in its memory until the starter will not be included 50 times.
7. If the fault is not detected again during this time, recording of it is erased from the memory.
8. Records of malfunctions can be erased from the memory of the electronic control unit by inserting it into a self-test mode "2", and then switch back to "1" or disconnecting the battery for more than 24 hours.

Installing self-test mode

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove the fuse box cover to access the diagnostic connector, which is mounted below the fuse box.
2. Turn the ignition switch to "ON", but do not start the engine. Electronic engine control unit is now in the self-diagnosis "1".
3. Using a piece of wire to connect terminal "IGN" diagnostic connector and terminal "CHK".
4. Terminal Connection will hold for 2 seconds, then unplug the cable. Electronic engine control unit is now in the self-diagnosis "2".
5. In the mode "2", the electronic control unit will display the error code recorded in its memory.

A warning

When shown at the same time codes 11 and 21, check the sensor circuit crank angle before checking the rest of the ignition system.

6. On models with catalytic converter if the electronic control unit included in the mode "2" when you start the engine electronic control unit automatically switches to test the exhaust gas sensor. In this mode, the indicator light on the instrument panel and the red LED will indicate the status of the exhaust gases. When the signal light and the LED are lit, it means that the exhaust gas is low CO content, and when they are turned off, which means that the exhaust gases are saturated with CO.
7. To test the sensor, set the electronic control unit in the self-test mode "2", start the engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature.
8. Once the engine is warmed up, raise the engine speed to approximately 2000 rev / min and hold that speed for about 2 minutes, watching the warning light on the instrument panel or the LED on the electronic control unit.
9. If the exhaust gas sensor is working properly, the warning lamp / LED must flash at least 5 times every 10 seconds.
10. After completion of all tests, exit the self-test "2".
11. If you do not start the engine, the self-diagnosis mode, "2" can be accessed again by connecting the terminals "IGN" and the "SNK" diagnostic connector longer than 2 seconds.
12. If the engine is running, exit the self-test "2" by turning the ignition key in the "OFF" position and disconnect the wire of the negative battery terminal.
13. If you want a more detailed inspection of the fuel injection system / Ignition, refer to specialists. The repair shop should have an electronic diagnostic device that plugs into the diagnostics and allows for a full review of all elements of the system.

Adjustment

On models without a catalytic converter can adjust the speed of the engine idling and the composition of the fuel mix (the level of CO in the exhaust gas). On models with catalytic converter can only adjust the speed of the engine at idle.
