Adjustment of backlashes between cams of a cam-shaft and levers of valves

Considering from the camshaft drive:

- Valves number 1, 3, 6, 8 - outlet;
- Valves number 2, 4, 5, 7, - inlet.

Clearance is adjusted by means of shims, which are manufactured with a thickness of 3 mm to 4.25 mm with a pitch of 0.05 mm. Thickness is written on one side of the washer.

The gaps on the cold engine (coolant temperature of 20 ? 5 ? C) must be:

- For the inlet valves 0,20 ? 0,05 mm;
- Exhaust valves 0,40 ? 0,05 mm.

The gaps on the warm engine (coolant temperature of 35 ? C or higher) should be:

- For the inlet valves 0,25 ? 0,05 mm;
- Exhaust valves 0,45 ? 0,05 mm.

The valve clearance is adjusted to heat the engine coolant temperature 35 ? C after a run of 30 000 km. It is also necessary to adjust the gaps after grinding and polishing of the valves and valve seats, after replacing the camshaft. In these cases, after 1,000 kilometers need to re-check the valve clearance on the engine is warm.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove the cylinder head cover.
2. Rotate the crankshaft so that the camshaft lobes on the scanned cylinder face up. Feeler gauge to measure the gap between the cam and follower and record the result. Likewise measured valve clearance on all other cylinders. The probe must be moved in the gap with a visible effort. The sequence of adjustment of backlashes as follows: 1st, 3rd, 4th and 2nd cylinders. Turn the crankshaft will be easier if unscrew the spark plug.
3. If the backlash differs from acceptable, it is necessary to replace the shim. To do this, turn the crankshaft so that the piston in the cylinder has not been audited in TDC. Then click on the special device pusher and "drown" it so that from it could remove the shim. On top pusher has two notches, to facilitate removal of the puck. After removing the washer to see what is written on the thickness of the back of the washer. By comparing the measured thickness of the washer gap, calculate the thickness of the washers that you want to install. Assume that the clearance measured at the outlet of the valve is equal to 0.15 mm and the nominal clearance of 0.45 mm. Hence, the gap is less than the required 0.3 mm. The thickness of the shim, a previous pusher, 3.60 mm. Hence, the thickness of the new shim to be 3.60 - 0.30 = 3.30 mm.
A warning

A warning. It is forbidden to turn the crankshaft with the shim is removed, t. To. In this case, the camshaft may damage the plunger.

4. Install new shims marked down to the follower.
5. Install the cylinder head cover with a new gasket.
If produced only adjust the gap (without repair cylinder head, valve grinding, and so on. D.), Check the clearances after running 5,000 km through the details. If shims are not worn or damaged when removed they can be reused. Definition of a technical condition of hydropushers valve (see. Subsection 2.2.1.6).
