Removing and installing automatic transmission




Electrical connectors of an automatic transmission

A warning

Basic operation for removing and installing the transmission are set out in section 8.1.1. This section describes only the differences relating to automatic transmissions.


Withdrawal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Lower the engine and connected to the clutch housing.
2. Support the engine is carried out by crane eyelets attached to the cylinder head or cylinder block. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the gearbox (see. Fig. Electrical connection automatic transmission).
3. Using the blade of a screwdriver, remove the tip of a cable (1) from the lever (4), then release the locking bracket (3) holding the cover of a cable control and move the cable to one side. Do not remove the bolt (2).
4. Remove from the gearbox support bracket power steering.
5. Use the clamps, for example VW 3094, press hoses going to the automatic transmission. Loosen the hose clamps and disconnect the hoses from the automatic transmission.
6. Remove the four screws and remove the guard transmission.
7. Remove the cover and unscrew the three fastening nuts torque converter. To access the nuts turn a crankshaft.
8. Disconnect the drive shafts from the gearbox. When removing the gearbox, be careful not dropped out of the torque converter transmission.

Setting

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Before installing the automatic transmission, measure the distance between the flange and gearbox flange bolts, which should be about 22 mm. If this distance is about 10 mm, then the torque converter is installed incorrectly. If improperly installed torque converter breaks down the leading part when installing the torque converter transmission.
2. The further installation is made in sequence, return to removal taking into account following moments.
3. To fix the torque converter is necessary to use the original nut which must be tightened to 60 Nm.
4. To fix the gearbox support necessary to use new bolts, having tightened their demanded moment. A Bolt - 60 Nm + tighten on a corner 90 ?�. The bolt - 40 Nm + tighten on a corner 90 ?�.
5. Adjust the control cable automatic transmission.
6. Check the condition of the oil in the main transmission and gearbox.
