The pistons and connecting rods are pushed upward from the crankcase with a wooden hammer handle after removing the connecting rod bearing caps and bearing shells. Before carrying out this work should be familiar with the following recommendations:
| Fig. 58. Marking the piston head before removing pistons and rods
- Each piston and its corresponding rod must be specified cylinder number from which they were removed. This is best done with paint on the bottom of the piston (Fig. 58). In addition, applied to the piston head arrow pointing toward the front of the engine;

- Before removing the piston rod to pay attention to the exact direction of the cover and connecting rod bearing before removing the cover apply punch on one side of the connecting rod bearing caps and cylinder number (number 1 cylinder - one label, etc.) (Fig. 59). Connecting rods and bearing covers of rods necessary to assemble such a way that both tide B (Fig. 60) and the notation and the number of cylinders were against each other. Both the tide after the installation of rods should always be directed toward the crankshaft pulley; - Bearing shells denoted in accordance with the connecting rod and bearing cap. Similarly, on the back of the paint mark the upper and lower bearing shells; - Pistons are different from each other in the depth of the recess in the bottom. For example, if you intend to install the piston from the second-hand car, you can measure the depth b (compression height) as shown in Fig. 61. Its value is different for different engines.

Intended for installation of pistons should have the same depth. Vary in width and with a recess. Pistons engine capacity of 1.6 liters, manufactured since 1996 have the same dimensions as its predecessor and pistons - the engine capacity of 1.6 liters. Pistons 1.4 liter engine already differ in size from the previously released. Therefore, the use of new pistons old pistons must be measured and the data compared with the data of the new. When removing the pistons, do the following: - Remove the cover and bearing shells and remove items, as indicated above. If necessary, remove formed on the upper part of the piston ring of the oil sludge using a scraper; - Push the piston pins after removing the retaining rings. The notch in the hole of the gudgeon pin allows using a mandrel which can be used to retrieve the retaining ring, as shown in Fig. 62. Finger is extruded suitable for this purpose, the mandrel;

- Removing the piston ring by alternately designed for mounting piston rings special grips, starting from the piston crown (see Fig. 63). If the rings can be used again, they should be appropriately labeled. In the absence of forceps assembly at opposite sides of the piston ring is inserted under a metal plate. One of the plates it is necessary to enclose a ring in the location shown in Fig. 64 that there was no scoring in the mirror cylinder.
