Replacing the oil seal Camshaft

Oil seal camshaft is removed from the engine to the car if there are traces near the oil. Gland located behind the camshaft pulley. Removal of the gland is held in the following order:
- Loosen and remove the drive belt on the front side of the engine;

Details of the valve timing
Fig. Details of the drive mechanism 106. The timing 1 - bolts 55 Nm; 2 - bolt 20 Nm; 3 - Clamp the engine mount; 4 - the top of the protective cover; 5 - roller tensioner; 6 - dust cap; 7 - bolts 10 Nm; 8 - the lower part of the protective cover; 9 - pulley the coolant pump; 10 - ribbed belt; 11 - a flywheel; 12 - V-belt; 13 - a pulley of the pump of the cooling system; 14 - bolt 25 Nm; 15 - the crankshaft pulley; 16 - bolt 25 Nm; 17 - the lever of poly V-belt tensioner

- Remove the upper protective cover 4 (see. Fig. 106) of the drive belt;

Location TDC
Fig. 127. Location TDC

- Turn the engine so that the first cylinder is set to TDC. TDC must be located opposite the mark on the camshaft pulley (Fig. 127);
- Check the direction of movement of the drive belt using the colored arrows, loosen the tension roller drive belt (see. P. 3.7.1), remove the drive belt and tie it in such a way that it can not slip from a camshaft pulley. Now the crankshaft of the engine can not rotate;
- Fix the camshaft pulley at rest (for example, using the old timing belt), unscrew the bolt and remove the camshaft pulley;
- With the help of pliers, remove the camshaft Woodruff;
- Screw as far as possible to the end of the camshaft pulley bolt and washer;

Puller camshaft oil seal 2085
Fig. 128. Puller camshaft oil seal 2085: A - the inner part of a stripper in 2085; V - the set screw

- The removal of the gland with the camshaft is carried out using a stripper in 2085 (Fig. 128), as follows:
- Remove the 2 turns (about 3 mm) inside part A puller and lock this position adjusting screw B;

Removing the camshaft oil seal with special tool 2085
Fig. 129 Removing the camshaft oil seal with special tool 2085

- Lubricate threaded head of the outer part of a stripper 2085, insert, and then screw it into the stuffing box (Fig. 129);
- Loosen the screw B (see. Fig. 128) and screw A into the inside of the camshaft so as to remove the gland;
- Hold a stripper in a vice and 2085 with the help of pliers, remove the gland.
When installing the oil seal, lubricate with engine oil seal surface (should also lubricate the rolling surface of the camshaft) and see that side of the gland, which is located a spring, was sent into the cylinder head. Seal installer can use a pipe, which must fully comply with the size of the outer part of the gland. Place the stuffing box directly (without bias) and pressed into it as long as its outer surface not go all the way in. Install the oil seal can also be a method described in Sec. 3.6.4 for the new front oil seal of the crankshaft;
