Measure the tread depth

NOTE
To make the measurements for determining the tread depth should be in the main recesses of the tread.
Do not measure at TWI (Tread Wear Indikator means. Tread wear indicator).

Measure the tread depth should be in the main recesses of the tread in the most badly worn tire locations. The provisions of the tread wear indicators are visible on the tread shoulder.
Instead ?TWI? may be indicated "?" Icon or the "company logo" producer.
The protrusions of the tread wear indicators have a height of 1.6 mm. This value is the minimum tread depth prescribed in German law.
In other countries, other rules may apply.

Indication of tire wear
Fig. 4.5. Indication of tire wear: A - mark tread wear indicator in the main grooves of the tread; B - the main tread grooves with tread wear indicator labels

Tags tread wear indicators should not be taken into account when measuring. Decisive is the value in the deepest part of the tread grooves (Fig. 4.5).
