Troubleshooting Battery

CAUSE
SOLUTION
Too low electrolyte level
Recharge. Evaporation (especially in summer) Fill with distilled water to bring the electrolyte level to the prescribed (with charged battery)
The electrolyte flows from congestion
Too high charging voltage Check voltage regulator, replace if necessary
Too high levels of electrolyte Suck the excess electrolyte pear
Too low density of the electrolyte
The density of the electrolyte in a bank is much less than in other banks Short circuit in one bank
The electrolyte density in two adjacent banks is considerably less than in the other Leaky partition wall, so there is conductivity between the banks, so that they both are discharged. Replace battery
The battery is discharged Charge the battery
Faulty Generator Check generator, if necessary, repair or replace the
Short circuit in the wiring Check the electrical system
The electrolyte due to improper service is too diluted with water Align the density of the electrolyte
The density of the electrolyte is too high
I refill the electrolyte Align the density of the electrolyte
Output power is too low, the voltage drops sharply
The battery is discharged Then charged battery
Too little charging voltage Check voltage regulator, replace if necessary
Terminals loose or oxidized Clean the connecting terminals and particularly the lower side, spread a light layer of petroleum jelly. Tighten the mounting screws
Bad connection weight: battery-motor body Check the connection of the masses, if necessary, to restore the metal contact and tighten the screws
Too great a self-discharge of the battery, resulting in contamination of the electrolyte Replace battery
Possible battery sulfation (gray-white coating on the plus and minus plates) CHARGING small currents to remove plaque. If after repeated charge and discharge power output is still low, replace the battery
The battery is worn out, the shedding of active mass of plates Replace battery
Insufficient battery charging
Faulty alternator, voltage regulator or connection wires Check generator and a voltage regulator, repaired or replaced; fix Guides
V-belt is loose Tighten or replace V-belt
Too many users are connected Install a more powerful battery, if possible, install a new generator
Constant reload
Faulty voltage regulator and generator possible Replace the voltage regulator, check the generator
