Removal and installation of the fuel pump and the gauge of the fuel pump



The fuel pump and fuel tank sensor

Fuel pump with the sensor in the gasoline engine of fuel stored in the fuel tank. In a diesel engine fuel pump built into the high pressure fuel pump (fuel pump), the fuel gauge on, on the fuel tank.

Fuel gauge consists of a float and a potentiometer. When the fuel level drops, the float drops and fuel gauge. Associated with the float potentiometer increases while the electrical resistance of the sensor. As a result, the voltage at the device showing the fuel level drops, and the arrow indicates the level of fuel is deflected in the direction of "leeg" - empty.


A warning

When removing the fuel pump may leak a small amount of fuel. Fuel vapors are poisonous and flammable, so it is necessary to pay attention to good ventilation of the workplace. Do not use open flame and fire hazard!


Withdrawal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Disconnect the earth cable (-) from the battery.

A warning

This memory is erased anti-theft radio code and preset stations. Do not disconnect the battery when the ignition, otherwise the control unit fuel injection system fails. Before removing the need to read the instructions in Section 10.11.1 and Section 10.19.11.


2. Cut the carpet at the perforation to the right of the handbrake lever.
3. Unscrew the fence.
4. Disconnect the plug of fuel gauge and the fuel pump, for a small screwdriver to lift this side locking tabs.
5. Loosen hose clamps and disconnect the supply lines and fuel return.

A warning

To facilitate the installation of duct tape to mark fuel.


6. Unscrew the cap nut special tool VW -3217. If you do not have the tool, unscrew the bayonet cap light hammer blows on the wooden rod.

A warning

Sparks should not be.


7. Remove from the fuel tank opening and a flange sealing ring.
8. Turn the left release of a bayonet lock and remove the fuel supply unit.

A warning

Before removal put a rag to collect leaking fuel.


9. Remove from the bottom of the housing fuel gauge.
10. Disconnect the fuel hose (1), the fuel return pipe (2) and the connecting plug of the fuel pump (3) (4 - marking on the lower side of the flange).
11. Remove the screwdriver upper snap ring (1) and a bayonet ring (2) (at the bottom of the body).
12. Open upper portion of the screwdriver casing (arrows) and remove it from the bottom.
13. Remove the fuel pump from the bottom of the hull.

Setting

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Set the top and bottom seals of the fuel pump (arrows) in the top and bottom. Secure the top O-ring locking ring, bottom - bayonet ring.
2. When reassembling lubricate the ring top.
3. Replace hoses and fuel return and fix collars. At the same time pay attention to the marking on the underside of the flange (4) - see. Fig. in claim 10.
4. Fit the fuel supply to the fuel tank, turn right, having stopped thereby bayonet lock.

A warning

Do not bend at the same time fuel gauge. Fuel gauge should point forward at about a 30 ?�.


5. Lubricate and install the seal ring flange.
6. Install the flange so that the flange marking coincides with the marking on the fuel tank.
7. Fit and tighten the coupling nut.
8. Attach hoses and reverse the fuel supply and secure the clamps.
9. Insert the plug.
10. Install the fence.
11. Install the carpet in place, glued or fixed with adhesive tape.
