Check of effort steering

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. On the car standing on a firm, level surface, set the front wheels to straight-line motion.
  2. Increase the engine speed to 1000 ? 100 min -1.

After checking, leave the engine running at idle speed

  1. Hook the dynamometer for a steering wheel spoke in a place the most remote from the center of the wheel. With the front wheels established for rectilinear movement, measure the force that must be applied to the steering wheel to turn the wheel left and right 1/4 turn.
    Effort: 29 N.
  1. Make sure that when you turn the steering wheel does not require excessive force.
  2. If the measured force is greater than the required value, carry out the following checks:
    - Check for damage to the protective covers of the lower arm ball joints and tie rod;
    - The torque that must be applied to crank pin of the spherical rod end;
    - The torque that must be applied to crank pin of the spherical hinge of the bottom lever.
