Charge system - the general information and precautions

The system includes a charge generator, the charge indicator lamp, battery control module (PCM), fusible plugs and connecting wires between components. Charge system provides power ignition system, lights, radio and other electric vehicles. The rotation of the generator is installed in the front of the engine drive belt.

Subsystem control output of the generator in the composition. PCM provides the adjustment level generated voltage generator in accordance with the specific requirements (operating conditions) engine. Thereby reducing the load carried on the engine when changing the parameters of movement, vehicle speed, coolant temperature, and the state (incl. / Off.) Of electrical equipment (air conditioning, lighting, radio, etc.).

The task is to limit the control voltage generated by the generator voltage within a certain range, thus avoiding power surges caused by overload circuits.

Charge system usually does not require regular maintenance. However, we should not forget the need to check the status of the drive belt of the generator, the battery and the electrical contacts in accordance with the schedule of routine maintenance of the car (Head of Adjustment and routine maintenance).

In case of failure of the generator should replace it as a unit. The same applies to the voltage regulator block, if it is placed in the PCM.

The warning lamp on the instrument panel should light up when the ignition is ON, and after the engine starts immediately extinguished. If the lamp is lit, the system has a battery fault (Section Check of serviceability of functioning of system of a charge). Some of the vehicles are also equipped with a voltmeter. If the voltmeter reads too high, check the state of the system charge (Section Check of serviceability of functioning of system of a charge).

When checking the state of the contacts of electrical circuits of the charge on vehicles equipped with an alternator should be careful:

  • When connecting wires to the generator from the battery make sure the battery polarity.
  • Before you apply for repair work arc welding disconnect wires from the generator and batteries.
  • In no case do not start the engine while charging the battery.
  • Before charging the battery, always disconnect the wires from it.
  • The rotation of the generator is a drive belt, which is getting under the hands, hair and clothing with the engine running can cause serious injuries - be careful.
  • Given that the generator is connected directly to the battery, its overload or short circuit can cause arcing and cause a fire.
  • Before starting steam clean the engine generator wrap in a plastic bag, kotory1 attach rubber tires.
  • In no case do not disconnect the battery when the engine is running.
