PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Disconnect the negative wire from the battery.

If the radio in your car is equipped by a security code before to disconnect the battery negative cable, make sure that you know this code.

  1. Disconnect all terminals on the distributor, electrical connectors and choke. Pre-label the wires and hoses to ensure they are installed correctly in the assembly.
  2. Locate on the cover of the distributor protruding label the letter or number. This mark indicates the position of the spark plug wire terminals of the first cylinder. If the label is missing, look for the spark plug of the first cylinder and pass it on to the wire distributor cap, thereby determining the desired terminal on it and draw a below it on the body of the distributor of risk.
  1. Locate on the cover of the distributor terminal spark plug wire and draw a first cylinder immediately below it on the body at risk.
  1. Uncover the distributor (Chapter Settings and maintenance) and turn the engine so that it turned nose slider label corresponding to the position of the spark plug of a wire of the first cylinder (see. Description of the procedure to bring the piston of the first cylinder to TDC in Chapter straight six-cylinder engine).

Distribution label on the engine capacity of 4.0 liters.

  1. Make alignment marks on the vibration damper with Valium TDC (TDS) on the cover of the distribution chain while turning runner distributor spout toward the spark plug of a wire of the first cylinder (the label on the distributor).
  1. Put on the edge of the case of the distributor mark directly opposite the nozzle runner distributor and parallel to its axis (if the slider is equipped with a forked nose, apply a label in the center between them). Also apply a landing at the bottom mark of the distributor to ensure proper installation during assembly.
  1. Mark the position of the thumb relative to the body of the distributor.
  1. Mark the position of the body of the distributor relative to the engine (arrow) (shown engine of 5.2 liters with removed for clarity, intake manifold).
  1. If you have not done this, disconnect the sensor plugs.
  2. Give clamping bolt (s) and remove the distributor.

After removing the distributor do not turn the crankshaft, as this will lead to a misalignment of distribution labels.

Location clamping bolts distributor.

Setting

If the crankshaft for any reason (or without) turned after removal of the distributor from the engine cylinder before the piston of the first assembly should be actuated to TDC. This can be done about it by defining touch points in the increase of pressure in the spark plug hole of the cylinder during the rotation of the crankshaft. After the appearance of the compression pressure should achieve zero alignment with the edge of the distribution scale pointer.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Replace the distributor housing O-ring.
  2. Insert the valve in the cylinder head, orient it absolutely as before removal (see. Landing marks).

Note that the volume of 4.0 liter engine equipped with a distributor clamping bolt which can be screwed into the engine block uniquely. When lowering the distributor to your place a little slider rotated. This must be taken into account when installing the housing. On engines volume of 5.2 l rotate slider before administration of the distributor to the engine so that it faces turned to the label on the spout body (CYL number 1).

The alignment mark position of the slider with respect to the label of the camshaft sensor on the distributor.

  1. Make the right combination of landing labels the base of the distributor and the cylinder head. Also check whether the slider is turned to the mark on the distributor housing during dismantling.
  2. Freely screw clamp bolt (s).
  3. Further installation is made in the reverse order of removal. Check the ignition timing (Chapter Settings and maintenance) and tighten the clamp bolt (s).
