Check of serviceability and replacement of the fuel level sensor unit

See. The warning at the beginning of Section Procedure dumping fuel pressure.

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Poddomkratte car and establish it on props.
  2. Connect the ohmmeter leads to the terminals of the electric fuel level sensor connector (see. Illustration below) and measure the resistance.
  1. Under the car disunite an electric socket assembly of the fuel pump / fuel level sensor and measure the resistance of the sensor unit by connecting the ohmmeter terminals to the relevant connector wires (shown engine displacement of 5.2 liters).
  1. First, measure the resistance of the sensor unit with the full fuel tank. Resistance should be around 120 ohms.
  2. Wait almost complete emptying of the tank and repeat resistance measurement - now it should be 10 ohms.
  3. If the readings differ from those specified above, or a full stroke of the float sensor gives a very slight change in resistance, replace the pump assembly to the sensor.

Another way to check the fuel level sensor is to remove it from the car (see. P. 1 - 4) and measuring the resistance at the extreme positions of the float.

  1. Measure the resistance of the fuel level sensor unit in the extreme positions of its float, corresponding to complete (the top position) and let (down) the tank.

Replacement

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remove the fuel tank (see section Removing and installing the fuel tank).
  2. Remove the access door to the block of the fuel level sensor / fuel pump (see. from the fuel tank.
  3. Remove the sensor assembly from the tank to the pump. Try not to damage the float sensor assembly.
  4. Install in reverse order. Be sure to replace the gasket flange.
