Check of the fuel injection system

Description of the procedures described below is made on the assumption that adequate fuel pressure (see. Section Checking fuel pressure and the functioning of the fuel pump).

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Check the quality and reliability of fastening of contact ground wires on the intake manifold. Also check all contacts related to the system wiring. Loose terminals and infringement of quality of grounding can lead to more serious failures.
  2. Make sure the battery is fully charged, as the operation of the control unit and the sensors that determine the amount of fuel supplied to a large extent depends on the accuracy of the power supply to them.
  3. Check the condition of the air filter - clogged filter significantly reduces the efficiency of the operation and efficiency of the engine (Chapter Settings and maintenance).
  4. If during the inspection found a blown fuse, replace it and check out whether he once again failed. If so - try to identify short to ground in the wiring harness of the fuel pump.
  5. Check for leaks air intake hose going to the inlet pipeline. Leaks of this kind lead to excessive lean. Also check the condition of the vacuum hoses inlet pipe and compression fittings.
  6. Disconnect the air intake hose from the throttle body and check for signs of dirt, carbon deposits and other deposits. If necessary, clean the sleeve using a toothbrush and carburetor cleaner.
  7. With the engine running alternately press the stethoscope to each of the injectors and listen to publish it clicks, indicating the serviceability of its functioning. Instead of a stethoscope to the injector can squeeze screwdriver and listen to the click through its handle. The frequency produced by the injector click depends on the engine speed.
  8. Disconnect the electrical connectors and injectors, measure the resistance of each of them. Compare the results with the data of the Specifications.
  1. Measure the resistance of each of the injectors - it should be about 12 V.
  1. Connect a test lamp test injectors to the connector of each injector in turn. Crank the engine. The lamp should break out uniformly on each of the connectors. This is a test voltage of injectors.
  1. Connect a test lamp test injectors to an electric socket of each of them and make sure it is blinking while cranking the engine.
  1. Further inspection system are given in the following section.
