Check of serviceability and replacement of the fuel pressure regulator

See. The warning at the beginning of Section Procedure dumping fuel pressure.

Models 1995 g.vyp. equipped with built-into the unit fuel pump / gauge of level of fuel pressure regulator (see. so these models it is possible to check only regulated fuel pressure.

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Relieve pressure in the system power supply (Section Procedure dumping fuel pressure).
  2. Disconnect the negative wire from the battery.
  3. Install a pressure gauge (Section Checking fuel pressure and the functioning of the fuel pump).
  4. Start the engine and check for leaks in the area of compression fittings gauge.
  5. Walk on the vacuum hose from the fuel pressure regulator to the intake manifold. Disconnect the hose from the pipe and connect it to fitting the gauge. Start the engine and make sure there is dilution. Remove the gauge and connect the hose in place.
  6. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the fuel pressure regulator and connect instead a hand vacuum pump. Think of the pressure gauge in the presence of vacuum in the regulator and in the absence thereof (see. Illustration "Connect the vacuum pump ..." and "... and then created it ..."). With increasing depth of dilution fuel pressure should drop. Compare results of measurements to requirements of Specifications.
  7. Connect the vacuum hose to the regulator and measure fuel pressure with the engine idling, again comparing the results with the requirements of the Specifications. Disconnect the vacuum hose and observe the change of pressure - it should jump to the maximum allowable value immediately after disconnecting the hoses. If changes in the testimony of the gauge does not happen, replace the regulator.
  8. If the fuel pressure is too low, press a fuel return line (may require installation of a special flexible hose as the line can be a metal) and observe the change in pressure gauge. If the pressure has not risen, the fuel pump is faulty or broken fuel supply line permeability. In the case of a sharp rise in pressure replace the regulator.
  9. If the measured fuel pressure is too high, stop the engine and relieve pressure in the power supply (Section Procedure dumping fuel pressure). Disconnect the fuel return line and blow it, checking for continuity. If the permeability of the line is not broken, replace a pressure regulator.

Replacement

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Relieve pressure in the system power supply (Section Procedure dumping fuel pressure).
  2. Disconnect the negative wire from the battery.
  3. Disconnect the vacuum hoses and the fuel pressure regulator and then give bolts of its fastening.
  1. Give fixing bolts (arrows) (shown engine displacement of 5.2 liters) and ...

... remove the pressure regulator to the fuel line.

  1. Remove the regulator.
  2. Install in reverse order. Do not forget to replace the O-ring. Before installation, lubricate the new ring clean motor oil.
  3. After installation is complete, the controller check for fuel leaks.
