Check and adjustment of the mechanical-hydraulic

Stall-Test

general information

Some car companies believe that the implementation of this test carries a risk of transmission exit out of operation due to the occurrence of increased pressures on its operating elements!

Stall-Test is used to check the serviceability of functioning of the converter of rotation (torque converter) and evaluation of retention of brake assemblies and clutch transmission assembly.

One of the defining conditions of the scan is a good condition and correct setting of the power unit, - check the coolant level, engine oil and ATF

Verification is performed during operation to warm up to normal operating temperature, the engine and transmission set to AT - do not forget to cock a lay brake and prop up the wheel chock.

The check Stall-Test need a good map of the specification tachometer and engine speed. Connect the tachometer should be carried out strictly in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions of the device, - try to place the meter so that his face is well visible from the driver's seat.

On top of the dial is reasonable to apply the label of maximum allowable RPM - minimum and maximum rpm Stall-Test-as is usually given in the specification map.

The main drawback of the described test is the potential overheating of the transmission. For this reason, not all manufacturers publish a specification card rpm Stall-Test. However, Stall-Test is widely popular among professionals involved in regenerative repair of automatic transmissions, for which AT manufacturers can issue special bulletins, compiled on the basis of intra-research works.

The order of execution procedures

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Cock a lay brake and prop up car wheel chock.
  2. Warm up the engine and transmission - ATF temperature must be within the range of 70 ÷ 80 ? C.
  3. Connect the engine tachometer.
  4. When the charged parking brake check the idle speed ? Engine (see chap. Current care and maintenance) in the "P" selector lever.
  5. Move the selector lever to ?R?.
  6. Left foot firmly depress the foot brake, right gently squeeze the gas pedal to the floor - after the engine speed stabilizes, consider reading the tachometer and immediately release the gas pedal.

To prevent damage to internal components AT pedal should not be held down for more than 5 seconds!

  1. Move the selector lever in position ?N?, and allow the engine to idle for at least one minute in order to prevent irreversible changes in the composition of ATF from overheating.
  2. Repeat modes ?D?, ?D-HOLD? and ?L? AT.
  3. On the map below, determine the state of the internal nodes of the transmission assembly, if necessary, make appropriate corrections.

Checking the response delay (Time-Lag-Test)

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. The response of the transmission to switch the selector lever when running at idle the engine comes to a specific time of the second delay.
  2. During this test measured the amount of delay on the AT response switching ?ND? and ?NR?.
  3. Perform preparation procedures similar to those described above for testing Stall-Test.
  4. Connect the engine tachometer (do so in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions of the device) and the cocked lay brake Check the idle speed at the position "P" selector lever (see chap. Current care and maintenance).
  5. Move the lever in position ?N?.
  6. Prepare a stopwatch and measure the response of the transmission delay time for switching the lever to position ?D?.
  7. Return the lever to position ?N?, and allow the engine for at least one minute to idle.
  8. Operating in a similar manner, measure the delay AT response switching ?NR?
  9. Thrice recheck for each shift, and then calculate the gauge-switch of the arithmetic mean and compare them with the nominal value of the delay for the transmission type AW372LE is 1.2 seconds.
  10. While referring to the table data, the analysis of test results, perform the necessary corrections.

  3. Through a special nozzle adapter to connect the service port inspection transmission line pressure gauge.
  4. Left foot firmly depress the brake pedal, push the lever to position ?D? and read the pressure gauge to the engine idle speed.
  5. While holding down the brake, right foot gently squeeze the gas pedal to the floor and when the engine speed is stabilized (turns Stall-Test-a), read the pressure gauge reading and immediately release the gas.

To prevent damage to internal components AT pedal should not be held down for more than 5 seconds!

  1. Move the selector lever in position ?N?, and allow the engine to idle for at least one minute in order to prevent irreversible changes in the composition of ATF from overheating.
  2. Operating in a similar manner, make a line pressure measurement modes ?R?, ?D-HOLD? and ?L? transmission.
  3. Finished checking, remove the gauge and stop the service port NEW stopper, tightening it with a force of 14.7 ÷ 17.6 Nm.
  4. Compare the results of the measurements with the nominal values.

Sea trials

If AT is suspected of infringement of serviceability of functioning, first of all you should always try to determine the nature of performance failure.

On branded service stations generally can be ordered AT card switching, which specifies regulations contemplated transmission shift points for various operating parameters (speed, load, vehicle type, switching direction). In the most detailed maps may indicate additional settings such as the setting of regulatory control pressure drive clutch and brake assemblies. In addition, it can also be given an explanation for the interpretation of revealed during trial violations. Comparison of parameters of the actual switching taking place during sea trials, with a corresponding map will help locate possible sources of faults.

There are two ways of running tests. In the first case, at the wheel of the vehicle must be in person the owner of the car, which will allow the examiner to ascertain the adequacy of his driving skills requirements of switching cards. In the second case, a test check carried out in traffic-free safe location - experienced a driver and his assistant produced a detailed verification of the functioning of the transmission parameters of a map switching. During the test checks operation of the drive train, engine and systems of their management. Normal operation AT depends largely on the health of the engine operation, and therefore, this unit during the test is given not less attention than most antibodies.

In determining the transmission shift points actually checked the correct ratio of throttle actuation pressure and centrifugal regulator at different engine loads. Another factor that should be given special attention during the test, a shock-free switching of the transmission. Switching can take place in strict accordance with the requirements of the maps, but the violation of their smoothness, or excessive inertia will be a strong argument for the need to check the status of implementation of the accumulators.

During the test run should be checked all possible speed and load modes - the completeness of the collected information is the key to the correct conclusions. Particular attention should be paid to the behavior of the vehicle when the owner of the described conditions when the violations occurred, - accuracy of the fault conditions is a fundamental factor in identifying its source.

In case of minor faults expressed in violation of external regulations or failure of components, replacement of which does not require dismantling of the transmission from the vehicle, appropriate procedures are made on the spot. If the problem is serious, the client is invited to the overhaul of the transmission.

During the tests, the transmission should be warmed up to normal operating temperature (70 ÷ 80 ? C).

3, O/D ? 2, O/D ? 1, 3 ? 2, 3 ? 1 ?? 2 ? 1. Make sure of serviceability of activation switch kickdown mode ?D?, - switching should take place in all the prescribed combinations: O / D ? 3, O / D ? 2, O / D ? 1 3 ? 2, 3 ? 1 and 2 ? 1.

In the event of unusual noises or vibrations, try to determine the nature of their occurrence. The most likely sources of noise and vibration backgrounds are torque converter, drive / propeller shafts and differentials. It should keep track of the dependence of occurrence of noise / vibration of the original settings when the vehicle is in a mode ?D?: O / D with locking torque converter, O / D converter lock-free, 3rd gear (when the special mode HOLD).

Compare the results of observations with the following card violations.
