Inspections of charge
Remember that the failure of the generator is not the only possible cause of infringement of serviceability of functioning of the system charge. If any signs of system failure, check the following: - Check the condition and the tension of the drive belt of the generator, in case of need make its replacement;
- Check the tightening of bolts of fastening of the generator;
- Check the condition of electrical generator and its terminal connections, if necessary remove the oxidation products, tighten the fasteners;
- Check the condition of the respective fuse, located in the main assembly block (see chap. Onboard electric) - before replacing the fuse punched eliminate the cause of the overload;
- Start the engine and make sure that the generator does not produce any unusual noises - whistling or squealing may indicate deterioration of the bearings or brushes;
- Check the completeness of the battery level - remember that damage to one of the jars may lead to an increase in current consumption;
- Disconnect from the battery both wires (at first negative), and carefully examine the condition of the pole terminals - in the case of corrosion carefully smooth out terminals, preferably with the use of special tools, track reliability of fixing of tips of wires on the terminals.
Check the output voltage Petrol models Wiring the generator and the location of its contact plugs (diesel models) | - Check the belt tension generator, measure the output voltage of the battery when the engine is switched off - the result of the measurement should be around 12.4 V.
- Start the engine, - if the charge indicator lamp in the instrument cluster (see chap. Controls and operation receptions) regularly goes out immediately after the start of the two following tests miss, and continue with the procedure.
- Turn the ignition switch and try a voltmeter all three terminals of the generator - at terminals B and S shall be a battery voltage (about 12 V), the measurement result on the L terminal should reach 1. Start the engine and repeat the test - at all three terminals should be present voltage 14.1 ÷ 14.7 in.
- If positive results of the measurements Check the condition of wiring on the circuit between the battery and the generator terminal B, otherwise check all supplied to the generator, wiring, - if no violations can not be identified, replace the generator (see. Section Removal and installation of the generator).
- Disconnect the electrical wiring from the terminal to the generator, turn on all the on-board electrical consumers and depress the brake pedal. Connect an ammeter between terminal B of the generator and the connector wiring - if the engine speed 2500 ÷ 3000 min force measured current is at least 65 A, therefore, the system battery is functioning properly, otherwise check the correct belt tension and, if necessary , make an appropriate adjustment (see chap. Current care and maintenance). If the belt is OK, replace the generator (see. Section Removal and installation of the generator).

Diesel models Wiring the generator and the location of its contact plugs (diesel models) | - Disconnect the negative wire from the battery.
| - Connect a voltmeter and an ammeter generator in accordance with the scheme.
|
- Connect the negative cable to the battery.
- Start the engine and turn on the lights.
- Gradually raise the engine speed and count the amount of force output current of the generator. If the presence of the output current reading voltmeter exceeds the battery voltage, the generator is good.
