Removal, check and installation of the steering wheel and steering column



Withdrawal

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Drive the vehicle on a flat horizontal surface with a hard surface and bring the front wheels in the straight-ahead position.
  2. Disconnect the negative wire from the battery.
  3. Remove the cover of the steering wheel and disunite two horn switch wiring connector.
  4. With proper configuration, remove the steering wheel airbag module driver (see chap. Onboard electric equipment).
  1. Release the fixing nut and using a suitable puller remove the steering wheel, - in any case, do not make an attempt to remove the steering wheel by tapping with a hammer on the shaft!
  1. Turn out fixing screws and remove the upper and lower sections of the column cover.

  1. Remove the cam (1) return the breaker.
  1. Remove the bolt assembly of the steering column switch.
  1. Disconnect the four-pin connectors and remove the assembly combination switch (1) from the steering column.
  1. Remove the four screws (1) and remove lower section of the instrument panel trim.
  1. Disconnect the four connectors (1) the wiring of the contact group of the ignition switch.
  1. Remove the two screws on the top of the steering column support bracket.
  1. Take the four bolts / nuts of the lower support bracket of the steering column.
  1. Remove the bolt and remove the intermediate shaft of the steering column.
  1. Chisel punch slots in the shear bolt head and screwed past the screwdriver and remove the lock assembly lock the steering shaft.

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Inspect the column for signs of mechanical damage.
  1. Measure the total length of the column - the desired value is 766.5 mm.
  1. Assess the intermediate shaft universal joint - joint should rotate smoothly, quietly and have no backlash.

Setting

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Install the steering column assembly locking lock and secure it with new bolts, having tightened to the last cutting heads.
  1. The further installation is made in the reverse order of the dismantling of the components - track compliance Specifications Chapter Suspension and steering the efforts of a tightening of threaded fasteners.
