Removal and installation / check of the fuel pump



Carburetor engine

The fuel pump is screwed to the cylinder head. It is operated via a lever directly on the camshaft. To check the pump is not required to remove it.

When removing the fuel pump may make a certain amount of fuel. Fuel vapors are poisonous, so you should ensure good ventilation. Avoid getting fuel on the skin. Work in fuel-proof gloves. Do not work near open flames! Keep a fire extinguisher at the ready!

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Disconnect the fuel hose on the carburettor and connect the manometer.
  1. Disconnect the fuel return hose from the pump and plug the nozzle on the pump cap. Secure the plug collar. Plug the fuel return line bolt clean.
  2. Ask an assistant to start the engine. If the number of revolutions of the starter to take readings of the pressure gauge. Pressure at the speed of a starter should be 2.8-3.5 bar (E1, EZ, E5: 2.0-3.0 bar).
  1. Remove the pressure gauge and lower the fuel hose into the measuring vessel (beaker).
  1. Ask an assistant to start the engine. Pump idling must deliver 800 ml of fuel per minute.
  2. Remove the plug to connect fuel lines and secure the clamps.
  3. If the values do not match with the check required, the pump is faulty and must be replaced.

Withdrawal

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Loosen hose clips and disconnect fuel hoses -1- and -2-. Plug the hoses suitable clean bolts. Mark hose with adhesive tape.

When disconnecting the fuel put a rag to collect leaking fuel.

  1. Unscrew the screws and remove the fuel pump -3-, pads and insulator.

Setting

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Carefully loosen the sealing surface of the cylinder head and the insulator from the remains of seals using the scraper.
  2. Install the fuel pump 2 new seals and insulator and tighten bolts to 25 Nm of torque.
  3. Connect the fuel according to the labeling and secure with hose clips.
  4. Start the engine and check the tightness of the fuel pump and connections.
