System to maintain a constant speed (cruise control)

Location of the main elements of the system to maintain a constant speed (cruise control)
Fig. 13.58. Location of the main elements of the system to maintain a constant speed (cruise control) and - models with power switches; b - models without the switch; 1 - the switch; 2 - switch on the brake pedal; 3 - safety switch (automatic); 4 - the throttle actuator; 5 - the switch on the clutch pedal; 6 - the control unit; 7 - the main switch

The system allows to maintain a constant vehicle speed irrespective of the inclination of the road and other factors, while the driver does not need to press the accelerator pedal. Basic elements of the system shown in Fig. 13.58.

Check of a free wheeling of a cable drive control system for maintaining constant speed
Fig. 13.59. Check of a free wheeling of a cable drive control system for maintaining constant speed

Upon detection of faults in the system, check the fuse, the connection of the vacuum hose drive and condition, adjust the drive control cable. Free wheeling of a cable drive control in the off position should be 10-30 mm (Fig. 13.59).
On vehicles with a manual transmission clutch pedal switch off the cruise control speed by pressing the clutch pedal. If you need to replace the switch, do not forget that it depends on the installation height of the clutch pedal. Turn so that the clutch pedal and the brakes were on the same level, then secure with the lock nut.
Any other fault in the system, cruise control should be addressed in the workshop.
