Check the vehicle alternator and voltage regulator

To clarify the reasons for the lack of recharging the battery perform the following checks operation of the voltage regulator.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
  2. Connect a voltmeter with a measuring range of 0-16 V between the B + terminal of the generator and the generator housing.
  3. Disconnect the red wire from terminal B + and connect an ammeter with a measuring range of 0-60 A between the tip of the wire and the terminal.
  4. Connect a wire to the negative terminal of the battery, and load 55 And with load resistors.
  5. Start the engine and set the constant speed from 2000 to 3000 rev / min.
  6. Adjust the battery current from 23 to 30 A load rheostat, and the voltmeter should be from 13.9 to 14.8 V. If any deviation from these limits require immediate verification of voltage regulator representative of the company (or its replacement).
  7. To test the power output of the generator, connect the pull-up resistor, set the engine speed to 1300 rev / min and at the same time increase the load current up to 10 A. The indicator lamp Charging the battery must not burn.
  8. Repeat the test at an engine speed of 2000 and 6000 rev / min, setting the load current 36 and 55 A to 55-amp alternator, or 43 and 65 A to 65-amp alternator.
