Removal and installation of the end cap of the steering column

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Expand the steering wheel to the position corresponding to the straight-ahead position.
  2. On models corresponding complete set (code ET2) activate the service mode of the emergency call TELE AID (see. Section Activate / deactivate the service mode of the emergency call AID TELE).
  1. Turn on the auxiliary battery and connect it to a standard battery, then disconnect the negative cable last.

    7 - Auxiliary battery

  1. Remove the steering wheel (see chap. Suspension and steering).
  2. Remove the left lower section (2) finishing the dashboard (see. Section Removal and installation of the left lower section of the instrument panel trim).
  3. Remove pin cable drum (A45), the horn and the driver's airbag (see chap. Suspension and steering).
  4. Remove assemblage combined steering column switch (S4 or 8).
  5. On models of release on 06.30.02 Disconnect the connectors (4) module EIS / EZS (N73) and the instrument panel wiring harness.
  6. Remove the instrument cluster (see. Section Removal and installation of the instrument cluster).
  7. On models of release on 06/30/02, remove the cylindrical casing (5) of the steering column, - try to remember routes wiring.
  8. Remove the bolts (6) and remove the end cap (7) of the steering column.
  9. Installation is in the reverse order - with the appropriate configuration (code ET2) deactivate service mode of TELE AID (see. Section Activate / deactivate the service mode of the emergency call AID TELE).
  10. Finally, make the DTC reading and clearing of system memory on-board self-diagnostic scanner using STAR DIAGNOSIS (6511 1801 00) (see chap. Systems of an electric motor) and enter the required basic settings avionics.
