Removal, check of a condition and installation of a camshaft and pushers

To perform the work described below require the following special tools: a micrometer (to measure the diameters of the necks of a camshaft), a dial gauge plunger type (for checking the shaft runout).

Withdrawal

The camshaft can be removed from the engine mounted on the car. However, pre-need to remove the grille, radiator, air conditioner condenser (if supplied) and skotootboynik, which is why the drafters of the Guidelines recommend that if you have access to the lifting equipment is still to remove the engine.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remove the engine from the car.
  2. Remove the cylinder head gasket.
  3. Remove pushers of the cylinder, putting them in order to install the unit.
  4. Set the dial gauge plunger to the surface of the camshaft sprocket (see. Accompanying illustration), then moving the lever shaft in the longitudinal direction, measure the amount of its axial play. If the play exceeds 0.05 mm, replace the bearing plate shaft.
1 - the camshaft sprocket
2 - the dial gauge
  1. Remove the chain and sprocket.
  2. Give bolts of a persistent plate of a camshaft. Prepare a solid piece of wire, which can be introduced into the crankcase with a view to lifting the camshaft during its extraction.
  3. Temporarily replace the camshaft sprocket with the purpose of facilitating the extraction of the latter.
  4. Carefully remove the camshaft using the prepared wire for maintaining in the raised position of the rear end of the shaft to prevent damage to the soft material bearings.

Checking the Status

Facilitate understanding of the procedures described below can help an explanatory illustration.

1 - Bolts
2 - distributor drive gear
3 - Washer
4 - star
5 - thrust plate
6 - key
7 - cam lobe
8 - camshaft

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Wash the shaft and the tappets, in a suitable solvent, and dry them by blowing with compressed air.
  2. Check the cam lobe and neck bearings for signs of wear in the form of cavities and produce surface hardening layer. Using a micrometer, measure the height and diameter of each cam shaft bearing journals. Record the results and compare them with the regulatory requirements (see. Table sizes and adjustments in the end of this manual). If necessary, replace the camshaft.

Upon detection of the cam shaft caverns or other signs of excessive wear also need to make a thorough inspection of the working surfaces of the pushers. When replacing the shaft properly be replaced and pushers.

  1. Lean camshaft by two V-shaped block and using a dial gauge, measure the value of its heartbeat. If necessary, replace the shaft.
  2. Check camshaft bearings for scratches, burrs and delamination of the material. If you suspect deterioration of the bearings with a micrometer to measure their diameters. Replace the bearing of this Guide is recommended to make the workshop service centers specializing in the recovery engine, which has everything you need for the task equipment.
  3. Measure external diameters of pushers and compare your results with the regulatory requirements (see. Table sizes and adjustments in the end of this manual). If necessary, replace pushers.

Setting

Installation is the reverse order of removal.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Install the camshaft in the engine block, as in the removal using to facilitate the temporarily put on a star and a piece of solid wire. Make sure that all bearing surfaces are lubricated with clean motor oil.
  2. Set the tappets in their previous nest (if not made the change).
  3. Install the camshaft thrust plate (a new one, if the axial play of the shaft exceeds the limit). Tighten the plate with a force of 7 ÷ 8 Nm.
  4. Install the other components removed during dismantling.
