Checking the Status

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Thoroughly rinse the components of the oil pump in the solvent and dry them naturally.
  2. Check the internal and external gear pump for signs of wear. Replace defective components.
  1. Temporarily install two gears back into the pump and by means of a blade-type probe, check the clearance between the outer gear and the pump housing (see. Accompanying illustration). Compare result of measurement with the regulatory requirements (see. Table sizes and adjustments in the end of this manual). If necessary, replace the pump.
  1. Measure the clearance between the teeth of the inner rotor and outer shoulders (cm. Accompanying illustration). In case of exceeding the permissible value, replace the pump.
  1. Press the edge of the meter to the flatness of the end of the pump housing and to measure the gear backlash (see. Accompanying illustration). If necessary, replace the pump.
  1. Check relief valve plunger for scoring and scratches. The plunger should be quite a tight fit in the cover of the pump. Check the spring for any loss of force that the presence of broken and turns.
  2. Inspect the fuel pump drive cam for the presence of cavities and seizure, in case of need make replacement.
  3. Using a hammer and punch, remove the needle roller bearing shaft of the internal gear pump housing. Discard bearing. Check the condition of the surface of the landing gear on the shaft bearing. In the event of burrs and rough edges, replace the shaft.
