Removal, check the condition and maintenance of the timing components (chain and sprockets)

To perform the work described below require the following special tools: a stripper, designed for vibration damper (for removal of the crankshaft pulley), a tool for cutting the sealant pillows.

Withdrawal

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Disconnect the negative wire from the battery.
  2. Drain the cooling system, remove the heatsink and fan.
  3. Loosen the hose clamps and disconnect the overflow and bottom heating hoses from the timing cover (cover gas distribution chain).
  4. Remove the belts from pulleys steering pump, generator and (if provided) air conditioning compressor.
  5. Give fixing bolts and remove the steering pump without disconnecting the hoses, move it to the side, freeing workspace.
  6. On models with air-conditioning give the nuts and bolts of the compressor on the bracket, remove the compressor and secure it on the mudguard of the left wing. Give fixing bolts and remove an arm of the compressor from the engine.
  7. Uncover the distributor and, having turned the engine in the direction of normal rotation until you get a turn in the direction of the slider arrangement segment candle wire of the first cylinder in the distributor cap. At the same time distributing the mark on the crankshaft pulley must be aligned with the TDC mark on the scale of the cover of the gas distribution chain. Now, the engine is in the TDC of the first cylinder.
  8. Remove the distributor from the engine.
  9. Give bolt crankshaft pulley (see. Accompanying illustration). To prevent rotation of the pulley can be, wrapped around the drive belt and pulling his arm. Remove the bolt with large washer and screw the bolt back into the end of the shaft journal in order to prevent damage of the last stripper.
1 - a cover of the gas distribution chain
2 - water pump
3 - gland
4 - Scale Distribution
5 - distribution label
6 - the crankshaft pulley
7 - Washer
8 - a bolt
  1. With the help of a stripper remove the crankshaft pulley.
  2. Drain the engine oil and remove the oil pan.

If the tray is sealed in the crankcase gasket sealant in place, remove the cover for the gas distribution chain will only be enough to tilt the front part.

  1. Give the front cylinder head bolts and bolts of the gas distribution chain cover and gently remove the cover from the engine. Try not to damage the cylinder head gasket and mating surface of the cover chain.

Facilitate understanding of the procedures described below can help an explanatory illustration.

1 - Bolts
2 - Washer
3 - a gear wheel drive of the distributor
4 - the camshaft sprocket
5 - tensioner assembly
6 - labels
7 - the oil pump drive sprocket
8 - Circuit
9 - internal crankshaft sprocket
10 - chain guide
11 - a nut
12 - outer crankshaft sprocket
13 - chain tensioner
  1. Loosen the bolts chain tensioner for oil pump to the engine block. Lock the sprocket drive and take pump assembly mounting gayku.Snimite chain sprocket and the outer pump crankshaft sprocket with the motor. Remove the tensioner.

If an asterisk too tightly planted on the ramparts, they will have to remove gently pry the two levers.

  1. Give bolts tensioner gas distribution chain camshaft drive and chain guide bolts. Remove directing tensioner, - try not to lose the spring.
  2. Lock the camshaft sprocket retaining bolt and hand. Remove the engine gas distribution chain as well as the camshaft sprocket, the crankshaft and the inner drive of the distributor.

After removing the chains try not to crank the engine, as it is fraught with damage associated with strokes of the piston valve.

Checking the Status

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Wash all the components in a suitable solvent and dry them with compressed air.
  2. Check the links in the chain, sprocket, tensioner and guide pads for signs of excessive wear. Replace defective components.
  3. Make sure that the plunger moves freely in the body tensioner in both directions. If necessary, replace.
  4. Remove traces of sealant from the cover of the gas distribution chain and cylinder. Check the cover for signs of deformation using the flatness measuring instrument (an edge of a steel ruler) and the blade-type probe. If necessary, replace the cover.
  5. Check oil feed nozzles cross in front of the engine. If necessary, clean the nozzle wire or blow it out with compressed air.
  6. With the beard, remove the crankshaft oil seal from the cover of the gas distribution chain. Try not to damage the wall socket fit gland. Fill with new oil seal lips to the side of the crankshaft.

Setting

Installation is in the reverse order.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Make sure that the engine is still in the position TDC of the first cylinder. This means in particular that the pin of the crankshaft and camshafts to be deployed upward keyways. If necessary, a little tweak the position of the shaft.
  2. Put the gas distribution chain on the camshaft sprocket and the inside of the crankshaft. This brilliant chain links must be opposite the switching labels on asterisks (see. Accompanying illustration).
1 - tensioner assembly
2 - distribution label
3 - a brilliant link
4 - oil supply nozzle
5 - chain guide
6 - distribution label
7 - a brilliant link
  1. Install the assembly chain with asterisks on the engine, taking care not to misalignment was brilliant chain links with distribution labels.
  2. Lock the camshaft sprocket and tighten the fixing bolt with a force of 132 ÷ 142 Nm.
  3. Install chain tensioner assembly and tighten bolts of its fastening with effort 7 ÷ 8 Nm.
  4. Refit the cover, adjust the gap tensioner, setting it to 0 mm using the chain slack and tighten the fixing bolts to 7 ÷ 8 Nm.
  5. Put the chain on the oil pump drive sprocket and the outer pump crankshaft. Make sure that the pump was the star facing the protruding length of the hub in the direction of the timing belt cover.
  6. Install the assembly chain with asterisks on the engine. Lock the pump sprocket and tighten the fixing bolt with a force of 24 ÷ 28 Nm.
  7. Refit the cover of the oil pump drive chain, and then press it with your finger to select a slack chain. Tighten bolts firmly lining 7 ÷ 8 Nm.
  8. Apply continuous quality pillow of hermetic in diameter section 2 ÷ 3 mm on an interfaced surface of the lid of the gas distribution chain. Within five minutes after laying the sealant push the cover to the cylinder block, trying it does not break the continuity of pillows.
  9. In several stages, tighten the cover bolts with effort 21 ÷ 26 Nm.
  10. Lightly grease a sealant around the perimeter of the inner surface of the crankshaft pulley, then put the pulley on the shaft journal with a hammer with soft brisk. Coat the threads and sealing washer and screw fastening bolts recent tightening them with a force of 142 ÷ 152 Nm.
  11. Install the oil pan.
  12. Install the valve.
  13. Fill the cooling system, start the engine and check for leaks.
