Camshafts and tappets
The sequence of tightening of bolts of covers of basic necks of a cam Before installing the shaded areas in the left exhaust camshaft cover, apply sealant. |
Withdrawal
PERFORMANCE ORDER | 1. Remove the ignition distributor. | 2. Remove the camshaft sprocket. | 3. Cover the front and rear camshaft bearing journals are different from the rest of the covers of basic necks. On cars of late releases on top of the covers are molded identification symbols (for the exhaust camshaft E2, E5, the intake valves - I2, I5). On cars of early releases numbers on the covers of basic necks of cam may be missing, however, before their removal is necessary to apply labels, which should indicate the serial number and the orientation of the lid. | 4. Loosen the bolts of covers of basic necks of a cam-working in the reverse order specified in the scheme. Loosen the bolts in several stages, one turn for the reception. After a full release of springs can finally turn the screws. First, remove the front and back cover, and then - Cover the exhaust camshaft. Cover, remove the intake camshaft in the last turn. | 5. Remove the camshafts. | 6. Lay followers and shims in separate numbered packs. |
| Check PERFORMANCE ORDER | 1. Inspect the working surfaces in the cover and the cylinder head. Check for burrs and traces of deep development. Check the cam camshaft spalling traces of metal (parts of a bluish tint), deep development, chips, formed as a result of wear and tear. | 2. Check run-out in the middle of the neck of a cam. If palpation exceeds norm replace the camshaft. | 3. micrometer measure the size of each of the cams camshafts and compare to the standard. In the case of increased wear or damage, replace the camshaft. | 4. Check the clearance of the camshaft bearing journals. This can be done two ways - either by direct measurement or by plastic caliber. | 5. When measuring the clearance by the direct method, set the cover of basic necks of camshafts in the cylinder head, keeping their previous order and orientation. Tighten the cap bolts to the specified torque in the sequence indicated in the diagram. | 6. Measure the inner diameter of the bearing surfaces of covers and compare with the regulations. If the internal diameter of any cap exceeds the limit, replace the cylinder head. The gap can be defined as the difference in the inner diameter hole at the neck and the diameter of the cover in the camshaft bearing neck. | 7. In the measurement gap with a plastic caliber clean both the camshaft and the bearing surfaces in the cylinder head of the necks and lids. Place the camshafts in the cylinder head. | 8. Place the pieces of plastic gauge wire along the necks of cam-bearing surfaces parallel to their axis, taking measures to avoid the rotation of cam, install and tighten the camshaft cover (see. | 9. Remove the cover bolts and carefully remove the lid, preventing the rotation of the camshaft. | 10. Compare the largest width of the crushed wire on each neck with a scale on the packaging caliber. | 11. Compare result of measurement to the standard. If the backlash exceeds norm a micrometer to measure the diameter of the neck of a cam. If the diameter is less than the limit, replace the camshaft and recheck gaps in basic necks. If the clearance is still higher than normal, replace the cylinder head cover and the bearing journals. | 12. Check for signs of wear on the pusher and the inner surfaces of the cylinder head. If there are the necessary measuring instruments, the degree of wear can be estimated from the difference between the diameters of the pusher and the bore in the cylinder head. Compare the clearance detailed in section 3.1.1.1. If necessary, replace worn parts. |

Setting PERFORMANCE ORDER | 1. Generously grease pushers and holes tappets in the cylinder head. Carefully insert pushers without disturbing the original order of their installation. When you install a pusher should be introduced into the hole straight. Insert pushers shims, make sure it is properly set, then liberally lubricate basic necks and cams of camshafts. | 2. Install the camshafts. Exhaust camshaft easily distinguished by splines to drive the distributor of ignition on the left edge. | 3. Make sure that the notch on the crankshaft pulley is aligned with the pointer on the front cover. Align camshafts so that the cams of 1st cylinder have been turned away from the respective valve. When the correct position camshaft dowel pin inlet camshaft sprocket in the front part of it should be directed to 9 hours (when viewed from the right side of the engine) and dowel pin exhaust camshaft must be in the top vertical position (12 o'clock). | 4. Make sure the contact surfaces spic and span covers of basic necks and beds of the cylinder head, on these surfaces without scratches and traces of oil. Apply a thin coat of sealant to the contact surfaces at the left cover basic neck exhaust camshaft. | 5. Replace the cover of basic necks, focusing on applied when removing the tags (or available). | 6. Tighten the cover bolts in the sequence shown on the diagram. Tighten bolts evenly, gradually increasing force, turning the screws on the turnover at a time, until the cover does not come in contact with the cylinder head. Then tighten the bolts to the specified torque. Tighten only follow in this order to provide a uniform and gradual increase in efforts by the valve spring on the cover of basic necks. | 7. Install the camshaft sprocket. | A warning If the cylinder head and camshafts exposed major overhaul, before installing the cylinder head cover, check clearances in valves on the cold engine.
| 8. Establish the ignition distributor. | 9. Check the valve clearances. |
