Drive timing

1 - an asterisk of a camshaft;
2 - rotor pulses to the Hall sensor;
3 - the bolt of the camshaft sprocket 100 Nm. Before screwing the bolt lubricate the bottom surface of the bolt head with a thin layer of engine oil. When tightening the bolt Grip camshaft with a wrench SW 24;
4 - turning finger 18 Nm;
5 - a sealing ring. When damaged, use a new sealing ring;
6 - chain tensioner, 40 Nm;
7 - strap tensioner;
8 - the drive chain sprocket;
9 - two-row bush roller chain. Before removing the chain direction of rotation check circuit;
10 - a bolt, 100 Nm;
11 - sprocket drive chain;
12 - a bolt, 10 Nm;
13 - chain tensioner with strap. Before you remove the chain tensioner with a screwdriver loosen the locking toothing and separate the chain guide of the tensioning device. To turn the engine can only be established by the chain tensioner;
14 - sprocket chain. In TDC position of the piston of the cylinder 1, the cut tooth must be aligned with the connector cover of the radical bearing ?1;
15 - simple roller chain. Before removing the chain direction of rotation check circuit;
16 - Strap pacifier;
17 - pin to Guides, 10 Nm;
18 - a directing finger flange 10 Nm;
19 - a bolt, 20 Nm. Bolt set with a special tool VW-D6;
20 - a bolt, 20 Nm;
21 - Strap pacifier;
22 - a bolt, 20 Nm. Bolt set with a special tool VW-D6;
23 - an adjusting washer;
24 - an intermediate shaft

Location of the timing when installing the piston of the first cylinder in the top dead center in the compression stroke

1 - chain;
2 - chain guide;
3 - chainrings intermediate shaft;
4 - an intermediate shaft sprocket;

A - lock mechanism chain tension;
B - Installation tooth on crankshaft sprocket must be aligned with the connector main bearing cap number 1;
C - adjusting label on an asterisk of an intermediate shaft;
D - marks on the intermediate shaft sprocket

Places tagging before removing the timing chain drive

Before removing the timing chain drive, using paint, apply a label on the circuit in the areas shown in the figure.

Timing is performed by the crankshaft, not directly, but through an intermediate sprocket. On the same shaft with the intermediate sprocket fixed sprocket of smaller diameter and through which a second chain is driven timing mechanism. The upper camshaft drive chain is tensioned via tensioning device plate, which is held in position by means situated outside the adjustment bolt. Lower timing chain drive has a hydraulic tensioner that requires no adjustment.

Withdrawal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Rotate the crankshaft in a position in which the piston of the first cylinder is established in the top dead center. This mark (arrow) on the pulley / damper crankshaft must be aligned with the pointer on the housing chain.
2. Installation of the piston of the first cylinder to TDC of the intermediate shaft to the sprockets must be visible groove (arrow). If the groove on an asterisk of an intermediate shaft is not visible, rotate the crankshaft one complete revolution and repeatedly combine adjusting labels with indexes.
3. Lock the camshafts by inserting special tool VW-3268 in the camshaft grooves.
4. When unscrewing bolts camshaft sprocket, using the wrench flats of the (indicated by arrows), hold the camshaft from turning.
