1. Remove a wire of weight from the accumulator. |
A warning When disconnecting the battery clears the memory cells, for example, a radio receiver code. Without the code, the radio can reconnect only to the manufacturer.

2. Remove the battery. |
| 3. Remove the battery holder and remove them (the holder nuts are specified by arrows). |
4. Remove the starter. |
5. Remove the air filter. |
6. Remove the air intake, reaching the air filter. |
7. Remove the bottom mudguard of a motor compartment. |
8. Remove the left and right drive shafts from gearbox flange. Using a soft wire, tie the ends of the drive shafts to the anti-roll bar or body. |
9. Drain the coolant from the cooling system. |
The engine 1,8-I Turbo |
10. Remove the tube connecting the turbocharger to the radiator of the air supplied under pressure, and an air filter. Loosen and remove the V-belt. |
11. Remove the power steering pump from the bracket and, using a soft wire, hang it on the body. Do not disconnect the hose from the pump and do not bend the hoses. |
Cars with air conditioning |
| 12. Remove the upper (A) and bottom (B) of the mounting screws and the air conditioning compressor without disconnecting from it hoses, move aside the compressor and secure it with a soft wire. |
A warning Not disconnects the air conditioning ducts.

13. Remove a reception exhaust pipe and catalyst. |
14. Remove the fuel hose feed. |
15. Remove the top casing of the engine. |
16. Disconnect electric sockets from ignition coils and fuel injectors. Loosen the ground bus (see. Fig. Location of the petrol engine Turbo I-1.8). |
17. Remove the vacuum hose from the pressure regulator (see. Fig. Location of the petrol engine Turbo I-1.8). |
18. Disconnect all vacuum hoses from the engine and turbocharger (engine 1,8-I- Turbo). If necessary, before disconnecting hoses, mark them. |
19. Disconnect all the electrical connectors from the engine and gearbox. |
| 20. Mark and disconnect the supply (1) and return (2) fuel hoses from the fuel line. |
21. Close the ends of the fuel hose foil or suitable stoppers in order to avoid the ingress of dirt. |
22. Disconnect the pipes from the radiator cooling system. |
23. Disconnect from the engine body and the hoses going to the expansion tank and move them aside. |
24. Lift up and secure the expansion tank with the bracket. |
Vehicles with manual transmission |
25. Remove the shift mechanism and the clutch slave cylinder from the gearbox. |
A warning After removing the clutch slave cylinder, do not press the clutch pedal.

Cars with automatic transmission |
26. Remove the brackets that hold the pressure line to the power steering gearbox. Disconnect the control cable from the automatic transmission gear lever. |
| 27. At the bottom of the engine compartment, unscrew the screws (indicated by arrows) and remove pendulum support that supports the engine and transmission. |
28. Lift the car so that the distance between the car and the ground is at least 60 cm. |
Removal of the power unit by crane |
29. Install wood flooring size 30 x 40 cm thickness of about 15 cm below the sump. |
| 30. Using a special device, hook the power unit for the lifting lugs of the power unit. |
31. In the absence of special tools to support the use of the engine circuit. |
32. Lift the lifting device so that the weight of the power unit was seen lifting mechanism. |
Removing the engine special holder |
| 33. A special holder is a hydraulic lift VAG 1383A to engine bracket T10012. Set the bottom of the engine in a special holder hole near the oil pan and tighten the engine bolts, having tightened their moment of 25 Nm. Lift the engine mount so that the weight of the power unit was perceived by the holder. |
| 34. Remove the screws (indicated by arrows), fastening the upper right support of the power unit. |
| 35. Remove the screws (indicated by arrows) and remove the left support of the power unit. |
36. Check that all electrical connections are disconnected and hoses between the engine and transmission to the body. |
37. When removing the engine using a crane to move the powerplant forward and, being careful, lower it on a wooden stand. Fasten the power unit in such a way to prevent it tipping over. |
38. If necessary, disconnect the transmission from the engine. |
