Dismantling the cylinder head

Dismantling the cylinder head must be carried out as follows:

Details on the front side of the engine to be removed before removing the cylinder head
Fig. 31. Details on the front side of the engine to be removed before removing the cylinder head: 1 - the upper housing; 2 - a gear belt; 3 - bolt 80 Nm; 4 - a gear wheel of a camshaft; 5 - inner guard; 6 - bolts 10 Nm; 7 - the timing belt tensioner; 8 - a nut 20 N ? m; 9 - a bolt 10 Nm; 10 - a pulley; 11 - bolt 20 Nm; 12 - ribbed belt; 13 - bolts 10 Nm, 14 - lower casing

- Disconnect all the auxiliary parts of the cylinder head (Fig. 31);
- To consolidate in a vise cylinder head with a collar attached to the exhaust manifold studs;
- Using Fig. 32, turn carefully unscrew bolts of covers bearing number 5, 1 and 3 on each side and remove the cover. Likewise, to turn two screws 1 (Fig. 33) of the front cover;

Camshaft bearing caps with
Fig. 33. The camshaft bearing caps: 1 - a bolt, 10 Nm; 2 - nut 6 Nm + 90 ?; 3 - a cover of the bearing; 4 - camshaft

- To turn on the nut bearing cap number 2 and number 4 should be such that for each passage nuts turned away by two turns until, until you can disconnect the two covers. Remove the lid and remove the camshaft. Inspect the cover. A wide protrusion (see. Fig. 32) is on the inlet side of the engine. Number of the lid (B) should be visible at the outlet side;
- Remove the tappets. They need to mark. It is best to apply the marking lines on the inner side, for example, the first cam - one line, the second - the two lines, etc. When placing the pushers to set their reference plane so that the oil inside them does not change its position. This begins at the front side of the engine;

Removing the valves and valve springs with the special tool
Fig. 34. Removing the valves and valve springs with the special tool

- To dismantle the valve in accordance with the instruction requires a special tool which is used according to Fig. 34. VW 541/1 pusher tool presses the upper spring until the spring is compressed so will not to using needle nose pliers could remove crumbs fixing upper spring seat. The pusher tool must go into the landing nests valve springs, since otherwise it is impossible to compress the spring. To dismantle the valve it is also possible to use a pipe section is fitted on the upper spring plate. Provide good support for the spring plate on the other side. Apply a sharp blow with a hammer on the pipe so that the release crackers: they fall into the pipe. The pipe must fit snugly to the plate spring, crackers are not lost;

Fig. 35. Wiring diagram of the cylinder head without the camshaft 1 - hollow cylindrical plunger; 2 - crackers; 3 - the top plate of the valve spring; 4 - valve spring; 5 - the directing plug of the valve flange (spare); 6 - valve stem seal valve; 7 - installed valve guide sleeve; 8 - a sealing ring of a camshaft; 9 - cylinder head; 10 - valve; 11 - bolt 20 Nm; 12 - the lifting bracket of the engine; 13 - bolts 20 Nm; 14 - a guide for the high voltage wires; 15 - the engine lifting bracket

- Remove plates of springs and spring. Remove the valve stem seals the valve stem, they must be replaced in a subsequent installation. Naris. 35 shows details of the cylinder head without the camshaft. Note the item. 5 - is a guide sleeve valve with a projection;
- If necessary, disconnect the two lifting lugs 12 and 15 and the guide wire to a high voltage to the spark plug from the cylinder head;
- Remove the camshaft oil seal from the shaft end.
