5-cylinder petrol engine

Tightening the cylinder head bolts

Cylinder head removed only to the engine is cold (room temperature). The exhaust and intake manifolds are not removed.

The cylinder head can be removed without removing the engine.

Features removing and installing the cylinder head of the diesel engine described in Section 2.6.1.4. Defective cylinder head gaskets can be identified by one or more of the following characteristics:

- Loss of power;
- Coolant leak (white clubs exhaust gases when the engine is warm);
- Oil leakage;
- The coolant in the engine oil (the oil level decreases and increases, gray engine oil foam bubbles on the dipstick, liquid oil);
- Engine oil in the coolant;
- Strong swirling coolant;
- The absence of compression between two adjacent cylinders.

Withdrawal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. To disconnect a wire of "weight" (-) from the battery.

A warning

This erased from the memory the radio code for anti-theft device and customized radio stations. Disconnect the battery only when the ignition is switched off, otherwise fail control unit fuel injection system.

2. Remove the upper part of the intake manifold.
3. Remove all vacuum hoses. To facilitate the assembly of the pre-mark them with tape.
4. Pull the throttle cable from the union and throttle stops.
5. Disconnect and remove all cables.
6. To facilitate assembly tag wire tape.

A warning

Cable clips open and, if need be cut. Cable clamps are not removed to the assembly could establish new terminals at the old place.

7. Remove the spark plug wires.
8. Remove the distributor cap. For this open screwdriver two plate clamp.
9. Remove the slider valve.
10. Mark duct tape all the fuel lines and remove them.
11. Completely drain the coolant.
12. Loosen the clamps and remove all the coolant hoses from cylinder head.
13. To establish the car on props.
14. Remove the bottom casing of the engine compartment.
15. Unscrew the exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold and the gearbox bracket. Lower down a little exhaust system and hang on the wire.
16. Remove the top casing of a gear belt.
17. Loosen and remove the timing belt from the camshaft on top.
18. Unscrew the cylinder head cover.
19. Remove the cylinder head gasket.
20. Loosen 1/2 turn and then unscrew the cylinder head bolts in the reverse order of their numbering from 12 to 1 (see. Fig. Tightening the cylinder head bolts).
21. Check all cables and detach the hose to the cylinder head.
22. Remove cylinder head, after removing the screws on the rear toothed belt and tilting it to one side.
23. Install the cylinder head on the two wooden beams.
24. Remove the cylinder head gasket.

Setting

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Before installing the appropriate scraper to clean the mating surfaces of the cylinder head and cylinder block from the remnants of lining. Pay attention to the fact that the dirt does not hit the hole of the cylinder. Close the holes with rags.
2. Check for oil in the holes for the screws of the cylinder head, if necessary, to remove the oil. To do this, enter the hole clean cloth and collect the oil.

A warning

The remaining oil in the holes when tightening bolts may cause damage to the engine block.

3. Check the cylinder head for flatness with a steel ruler and daisy probe at different locations. Flatness should not exceed 0.1 mm.

A warning

If the sealing surface of the cylinder head to be brought, the minimum permissible height of the head should not be underestimated (see. Subsection 2.10.3).

4. The cylinder head with tears valve seats or valve seat rings, as well as the beginning of the thread calls the spark plugs can be used further without reducing their service life and bulkhead if the width of gaps and do not exceed 0.5 mm max =.
5. Cylinder head gasket replace always. The inscription "oben" should point to the cylinder head. The gasket without sealant set so that it does not cover any holes.
6. For the alignment of the cylinder head screw into the holes 9 and 10 of the cylinder head bolts (see. Fig. Tightening the cylinder head bolts) guide pins VAG-3070 (the arrows indicate the location of the finger). If there is no fingerprint, the guide pins make yourself. To do this, cut a head of the old cylinder head bolts and propylene at their end of the slot for the screwdriver.
7. Crank for the pulley so that all pistons are approximately equal to the height.
8. Install the cylinder head, while paying attention to the guide pins.
9. Install the remaining 10 bolts with spacer washers and tighten them by hand. Bolts cylinder head is always replaced.
10. Screw out the guide pins with a screwdriver and screw the remaining two bolts with washers. Tighten by hand.

A warning

Tighten the cylinder head bolts produced with great care. Before tightening, check the accuracy of the torque wrench. Cylinder head bolts are tightened to the engine is cold.

11. The cylinder head bolts are tightened with a torque wrench in sequence from 1 to 12 in two steps: first with a force of 40 Nm, and then - 60 Nm. This is followed by more stringent tightening wrench: 1/2 turn (180 ?). Allowed additional tightening of 90 ? x 2 (2 times for 90 ? each). When tightening the cylinder head bolts to estimate the angle of rotation of the key position of the handle relative to the engine: 1/4 turn (90 ?) corresponds to the position of the handle across the motor.

A warning

In gasoline engines dozatyazhka cylinder head bolts on the warm engine within the service or repair is not allowed.

12. Install the timing belt.

A warning

When replacing the cylinder head with the camshaft must be installed after the installation of the head lubricated contact surfaces between bucket tappets and the working surface of the cam.

13. Install the cylinder head cover with the gasket and tighten to 10 Nm. Damaged gasket replaced.
14. Install the exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold.
15. Install the mudguard of the engine.
16. To remove the car from the backups.
17. Attach the coolant hoses and secure with hose clamps.
18. Connect all electrical wires according to the label tape.
19. Set the slider valve. Movements back and forth to check the reliability of fastening.
20. Replace the cover and fix the distributor plate with two clamps.
21. Attach spark plug wires in the order of cylinders 1-2-4-5-3. The first cylinder is at the toothed belt.
22. Reconnect all fuel lines and secure the clamps.
23. Connect all the vacuum hoses according to the label tape.
24. Connect the cable to the throttle control and throttle stop.
25. Attach a hose heater on the front casing of the exhaust pipe and fix the collar.
26. Install the intake manifold.
27. Connect a wire of "weight" (-) to the battery. Enter anti-theft code, program the radio station and to set the exact time on the clock.

A warning

Connect the battery only when the ignition is switched off, otherwise the control unit fuel injection system fails.

28. Fill the coolant. Always replace the coolant.
29. Check the engine oil level. If the cylinder head gasket was faulty, replace oil and filter.
30. Warm up the engine to operating temperature, check the coolant level and the tightness of hose connections.
31. Check the ignition timing (see. Subsection 2.14.6).
32. Check the idle speed and CO content (see. Subsection 2.18.1).
33. Check compression (see. Subsection 2.11).
