Checking the tightness of the cooling system

The tightness of the cooling system and the work of the pressure reducing valve in the radiator cap can be checked with the help of a special device. Such a device can be purchased at specialized centers.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remove the radiator cap and check the tube and cover for rust and lime deposits, if necessary remove them.

To remove the cover only when the radiator is cooled by at least the temperature of hands, otherwise there is a risk of scalding hot coolant. For safety, lay a cloth around the pipe.

  1. Screw the radiator cap instead of a connecting element of the verification unit.
  1. Create a system pressure pumping. The pressure must be about 1.1 bar.
  2. The created pressure must be kept constant for 2 minutes. If the pressure drops, find of leaks in the cooling system.
  3. Reduce pressure and slowly unscrew the connecting element.

Check relief valve

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Pressure relief valve in the radiator cap. Its mission is to open the cooling system in the event of excess pressure and return the liquid to flow into the surge tank.
  1. To check radiator cap screw on the screening device.
  1. Create pressure. Load valve pressure 0.7 - 1.0 bar. After 10 seconds to check whether the pressure has decreased. If the pressure is reduced, the cover must be replaced.

Checking vacuum valve

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Pressure reducing valve is also in the radiator cap. After cooling the coolant in the system it allows the fluid to flow from the tank.
  1. Remove the vacuum valve and check whether it closes completely when released. If it is not fully closed or damaged gasket, the cover must be replaced.
  1. Screw the cap on the radiator, in case of damage replace the rubber gasket.
